NUJ condemns the attack TV news channel by CPI(M)

The National Union of Journalists (India) has strongly condemns brutal attack on scribes and crew of the Malayama Manorama and Manorama TV news channel by Communist Party of India (Marxist) affiliated Student Federation of India (SFI) activists on Wednesday and termed the incident as an effort to suppress the freedom of press in the country. In a joint statement issued on New Delhi today Mr.Roy and Mr Atmdeep said that the unprovoked attack on the media persons in Kottayam was latest in fast growing tendency of ruling left party cadres in Kerala to terrorise independent media persons and organisations in the state.Terming the incident as assault on freedom of press in the country NUJ(I) has asked for immediate arrest and strong legal action against the persons involved Kottayam incident where Manorama TV reporter Pradeep Joseph and the Malayama Manorama newspaper journalist Nishant Kurian and three of their colleagues were seriously injured in SFI attack. They had gone to a spot to cover an incident of clash between SFI and affiliated Kerala Students Union activists.NUJ(I) expressed sympathy with injured media persons and their colleagues. Mr Roy and Mr Atmdeep asked centre and state governments to take appropriate measures to effectively check these kind of incidents in any part of the country. Better DTC bus service in Dwarka

We have discussed a lot about better DTC services in Dwarka in our Dwarka Forum :
Please add/ suggest more points. Some of the comments/ suggestions by members are:
*The low floor AC bus would be ideal for Dwarka.
* Connecting service with Metro Station with Domestic/ International Airport.
* There must be more/ new connecting service from Dwarka towards Delhi ( please comment on priority )- Nehru Place-Vasant Kunj-Bikaji Cama Place
-Okhla-Lajpat Ngar-AIIMS
-Noida-Dhaula Kuan

* Nazafgarh - Dwarka - Nehru Place route require proper planning/ strategy.
As we have only one bus route for Nehru Place ie. 764 which over crowded all the times. Even though the frequency of route no 764 is 5-10 min in office hour, it is very difficult to get into the bus. Sometimes wait for 3-4 overcrowded buses to pass to just get in. DTC official should see these buses in office hours to get concrete solutions. They can easily observe the pathetic condition of commuters.
-cut short the route to Dwarka- NP or Dwarka-IIT or Dwarka- BCPfor some buses.
-more DTC buses in office hours
-Some chartered/ RTV buses charge Rs25/- for Dwaka-NP DTC can run A/C buses @Rs 15/-- and can earn big profits.
* Option for a private transportation service, funded solely bycommercial property owners/ NGO etc.. In Dwarka there are thousands of property dealers, they can easily contribute and support this System. Check for the feasibility.
*We can have battery operated RTVs in circular routes.can have monthly/ yearly subscription passes...
* There is a requirement of Mini Mudrika/ CIRCULAR SERVICE type feeder service linking all the Sectors or closer to them for connectivity to Shopping complexes/ Metro stations etc.
?-Say starting from Sector 1 going towards Sect 4/5 then on to Sect 14 /coming towards 13,12,11,19,18 ,22,23,9,10,6/7 etc.
?- Say starting from Sector 22 (last Metro station) going towards sec-9 through bharat vandana park, To sec-6-10 market through shiksha Bharti school, right to main road, left towards aashirwad chowk, -- back through nearby metro rail route ---
Please suggest a better route - If our designer members can design an internal route map within Dwarka

Fern Sharma is the Jewel of Dwarka

Fern Sharma - topper of CBSE 2008

Whatever you do, do with interest, is the ultimate mantra of her success says Fern Sharma who this year’s CBSE Class 12 topper with 94.4%! Talking to Dwarkaparichay she explained that during regular school days she studied for five hours and she doubled the duration in the examination days. Rest is the history… Fern-resident of a student of DPS, Dwarka and also the Head girl of the school got 96 marks in Maths, 90 in English, 96 in Psychology, 95 in Geography and 95 marks in Economics. Although she scored 92% aggregate in X standard with 93 marks in English, 93 in Maths, 96 in Science, 86 in Sanskrit and 90 marks in Social Studies. She is a good player of football & basketball besides she is painter and very good debater also.
Fern says that she had worked hard and was anticipating a good result. Even though Fern attributes her success to her loving and supporting parents Ajay K.Sharma-bank officer in State Bank of India and Usha Sharma-Housewife, she is also all praises for the teachers, especially her Principal Renu Mital who has been a big inspirational force in her life. “I am really proud of my daughter and it’s all because of her hard work and the efforts put in by her teachers that she has secured this position.” Says Mr. Sharma.
Fern - an unusual name given by her grandfather - very much resembles the plant by the same name, which is a delicate plant and one that blooms wherever you keep it, outdoors or indoors. Fern is a soft spoken and unassuming student. Besides academics, participating in extracurricular activities and sports is something even her mother vouches for. Provides her mother Usha Sharma, “Fern has always been a bright student with a good grasping power. She has never shirked hard work and has always been a regular student. She has tremendous determination and grit and sincerely completes everything that she undertakes.” So if she is playing football, she takes it so seriously that she strives to be the best.
Fern represented Delhi last year in Under-19 Junior Championship. She has won debate competitions held at DPS, Noida, Rohini and in Cambridge School. She won painting competition held at DPS International and DPS Vasant Kunj. She is in the school’s basketball team. She has also gone to Japan in an exchange programme by CBSE. How does she manage to excel in such diverse activities? “I never sit idle,” quips Fern, “Nor do I waste much time in watching T.V or surfing the net as many of my friends do.” So what does she do for recreation? “Well, I do watch reality shows at times and read novels. My favourite is Jeffery Archer. I also love to hang around with friends,” informs Fern. About the new section HOTS which is a hot debate topic these days, Fern feels that it is a good approach saying, “I never believed in mugging up. HOTS test the mental ability of the students. If you have understood the concept well, then no question is difficult. It is a good concept.” Now that the first hurdle is over, what are her future plans? Fern wants to be an economist and her immediate plan is to get into Economics (Honours) course in St Stephans College. She has her eyes set on the prestigious London School of Economics for her Masters and further research. She likes the economic subject because she knows that the said subject can bring the change in the nation’s development. That’s why she has keen interest to adapt it more willingly.
Keep the spirit high to achieve what you want Fern because tons of wishes of the whole sub-city is with you.

Waste of Fuel by Govt Vehicles and its RAMPANT MISUSE
Dear Dr. Manmohan Singhji,
In your speech addressed to the nation mentioned of fuel waste"Let us reduce wasteful consumption of petrol" . Appreciate your concern that too on the eve of World Environment Day.
1. Now who will BELL THE CAT ? Look at the Govt Vehicles running across National Capital Delhi. Almost all of them either on Diesel or Petrol.
Hardly one could find them running on CNG/ LPG/ Electricity?
2. You will find the rampant Misuse of Govt Vehicle by none other than Higher Authorities. From Morning School Drop/Pickup, During Lunch hours near
some restaurants, In the evening Markets and late evening at Private Functions, one could find these Govt Vehicles..? Are they been designated to use
for these purpose ???
3. What stops Govt officials use public transport system? Public transport is only for common man and tax payers?.
Look at almost all Govt officials Residential Colonies WELL CONNECTED with Public Transport System, why they are not encouraged to use public transport and
given LUXURY of Govt Cars to pickup?
4. Concerning LPG: Look at the misuse of category. Almost 90% restaurants and including Cafeteria and Canteens in Govt building may find LPG Cylinders designated for
Home are used instead of COMMERCIAL Cylinders?.
5. Diesel: Why Diesel is given out subsidised for Commercial Use? Almost all major cities have nothing to with Agriculture. So the Diesel sold should not have any subsidy.
After all the subsidy comes from Taxpayers? which accounts and accurate remittance mainly from SERVICE CLASS.
We appreciate you and your office will take this matter in the priority areas for IMPLEMENTATION in true spirit and in consultation with Department of Personal, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy.
Member- Dwarka Forum (An online forum of residents of Dwarka Sub-City)

What does not make sense at all is why Kerosene remains untouched. Through the ration shops, when available, it sells at around 30Rs/litre in Delhi not for the control price of Rs9. The story is similar all over the country. Ergo the discount meant for the poor is not reaching the poor. So why continue with such a system and this discount? Kerosene available at such discounted prices is being used as a mixer in petrol and illegitimate money thus earned is rumoured to line the pockets of many noble souls we elect as lawmakers as well as 'public servants'. The highest sale of kerosene is in West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura. These also have the distinction of being the States with the higher VAT levy - a wonderful credential for the people friendly communist governments of these States.
Is the purpose of this discount to protect the revenue stream of those who prop up this fragile coalition? The poor voters are certainly not fooled by all these promises of discount for them. But perhaps this does not matter since the ballot box is becoming increasingly irrelevant.
How can this country prosper with such policies of appeasement? In the end it is the dream team which will carry the can! Worth thinking about. Anant Trivedi

Well, the initiative is exemplary. But whatever has been said, is known to all, even to those who are indulging in it. Whether you start looking from the Top or from the bottom, indulgence is there. Factually, these are Statements just to be made. The shoes of these wearers do not pinch so they do not feel the pain. Or if the shoe gives pain, they simply replace it with a better one (a costlier one). Their vision of a poor is absolutely different. For more than four years, the plight of the poor farmers remained in oblivion, and when the situation stared in their face, generosities started showering. The Mah govt has approved to spend thousands of crores in competition to Shiv Sainiks - where are the Poor People in this project.
You yourself know how and why the CGHS Scam started. Who made hues and cries, and where it stands now. Its a socio-political gamut of the big players. And the most affected person is the SUFFERER. One who is NOT IN THE GAME. Mind it, in this socio-political gamut, the Ruling Party or the Opposition DONOT get affected.
Please be aware that the rise in the prices, does not affect these players. Well, they do intend to take care of their Vote-bank, and that too near about the Elections. I cant say whether placing a mirror before the face will change the system.
But don't get disheartened. Tomorrow, may be different. "NOT RECOMMENDED" can become "NOTE RECOMMENDED". Kuldeep Sharma

It is not important that we all know. This is also not important that the shoes of these wearers do not pinch or if the shoe gives pain, they simply replace it.The important is how much we feel it and at least try to make them feel.We are in system where Judge even can not convict anyone only on the ground that he knows the culprit.Similarly,we have to express it in a way so that they can at least understand that we are in pain. The unfortunate part from the people that most of the time we do not react unless something hearts very badly.May be because of either we have enough capacity of tolerance or so much selfish.Media is also highlighting the issues but it has some commercial obligation too. That is why it always takes balance approach.
Sir, you talk about CGHS Scam. From the very beginning these societies were taking premium money for membership but no one objected it.I am sure most of the victims today must had information about. But till the time it fired no one cared. Now we all can see the heat. How we can say we are not in game?I am sorry but most of upper/lower middle class have never given any indication that they know but not react.Fact of the matter is that they know it and simply ignore it.Either they feel inferior to rich or superior to poor.If everything is for vote bank why we are far behind even though we are big in numbers.
Tomorrow,we will see what will happen?Let me remind "hope is a good breakfast but bad supper". If we can not take care of our self how can we help poor? For talking about poor our so called politician are enough. Sushil

It is very true , that when ever I have to purchase kerosene , during the last 20 years , i have been buying it at black market rate as on today it is available @ Rs. 30.0 , so why govt. make it to Rs. 30.00 instead of increasing the prices of Diesel & petrol, to cover the losses. Purshotam Behl

Status of Broadband services in Dwarka

Join FREE Dwarka Forum and express your valuable views in the Discussion

*MTNL Broad band is real value for money and the service is quite good. I have had no problems for the last year and a half. Ashim chakravarti

*I was earliar using Airtel connection and now for last 4 months using MTNL. I find both at par. However billing perspective MTNL is far better than Airtel. There are lot of hidden cost in Airtel and very limited transparency. They frequently changes plans and most of their plans are looks attaractive and at par with MTNL and land up very costly. Ranjeet Kumar

*I feel problem is little with MTNL office attitude and more with the linesman./guards who got paid by airtel to fix things. I got a connection of airtel, costs were exorbitant service was ok... I have MTNL connection also for last 2.5 years i feel and the service is really cool. Problem might come for few hrs in 4-5 months but its ok.. Speed is also decent. What i can expect in Rs250 plan, 100 free calls, broadbad is what i can ask god for.. For me, the customer service although funny that they talk in hindi even when u chose english :) but still it works atleast for me:) But I feel MTNL is real value for money...Krishna

*I am using Broadband for last one month as ours is a new residental
apartments, we were lucky to get MTNL Connection after Six months as
cable in our Area had not been Laid. In fact I have used airtel
Connection also, I find till date mtnl connection to be at par with
airtel. Anuj Sharma

*We need to put pressure on MTNL authories. Surrender of connection is not the solution. In future the problem may also with other service providers. MTNL HAS THE BEST NETWORK ALL OVER INDIA. ANIL NAYAL

*You are lucky. I got Tri Broadband from MTNL in January 2008. Till now facing lots of problems. Whenever I try to use internet, I get "cannot find server". Complaints at various levels have not worked. Even Chief Managing Director (CMD), of this organisation is helpless. It takes months together to get any body's attention. Horrible experience. Thinking of surrendering this Broadband connection. Just sharing my bitter experience with you. God bless you and the MTNL ..Prof. H. D. Goyal

*I had very bad experience with MTNL.Five months back I booked for internet connection at my residence and was told that it will be done in 30 days. After 30 days I called them after continuous follow-ups came to know that the bopoking has been cancelled.I wanted to know the reason but could not know over telephone.I wrote letter to GM(Mr.R.A.Gupta) and Director (Mr.A.K.Arora ) of MTNL.When I tried to contact GM I was informed that matter has been forwarded to Area Manager. Finally I had a chat with AM and was informed that your telephone starting from 2507 and hence this can not have the internet facility. You please change your telephone no. and then book for internet connection. Finally I dropped the Idea.My trelephone 25078347; and CA No. 2053203452.Letter I had written is also reproduce:-Sushil Kumar

*I was the first 512K MTNL broadband subscriber (Tel No. 2507-3661) in
Dwarka. Intially faced lot of problems. After multiple visits of MTNL
enginners & change of ADSL modem, it got activated. Recently, after a
lot of chasing, MTNL has changed my port therby making it a bit stable. Currently, Hanging is there, though reduced significantly. It does not work beyond 512K. Promised 2 MBPS has never been seen at my place. Mahesh Tak

*We had two MTNL broadband connections in our joint family, but for the last 2-3 months, both of them had stopped working. Even after continuous complaints, noone paid attention to it, Noone came to check the problem. Everytime we used to complain they used to say, it is ok from our side, please ask your society lineman to check, there is some problem in your society wiring. Finally last week, we got the mtnl connection disconnected and got a new airtel broadband connected. Ashu

*I am using same line , Tel. No 28033216, and Ca No-2053243033. I face no connectivity problems frequently. But same help line no is not fesible all the time. After 11PM it's not responce at all. I have to wait for next day. S. Kanti

*This is true that MTNL services are getting from Bad to worse in many of the areas. Leaving aside the broadband services which once used to be better are now worst as because of overloading where in infrastructure seems not been upgraded, services of 1504 for broadband is known to all, normal telephone lines becomes dead whenever there is breakdown of power from BSES in our DDA pocket.
The matter was taken up with GM (Mr. Harvesh Bhatia) but it was always false promises. Now the same has been taken up with CMD with a hope that the issue gets resolved. Mahesh Gupta

*My Experience with MTNL has been mixed. Since I stay in DDA flats I had opted for MTNL since last 2 1/2 years. It is very bothersome. It can be resolved by the SDO. The talk of the town is that Airtel and other providers have monthly targets and they sometimes pay the society guards or linemen to create problems in Tel line so that they can take away MTNL customers. Actually MTNL has a good connection without fineprints. Its matter of getting hold of your linesman/SDO Rohit Jain

*Yes, i am a user of MTNL TRIB plan and for past 2-3 weeks i am getting disconnected after few minutes of usage, i don't know what is the problem. i have not yet made a formal complaint but i am as such also fed up with all the wrong calls i receive on my phone line. surrendering an MTNL line getting refund is also such a pain. sometimes the speed is quite good but for last 2-3 weeks i am having problems. Pradeep

*I am using MTNL Broadband and am extremely satisfied with the bandwidth and the spped of the connection. The service is prompt and we got good response from the service provider. Cdr IC Sharma - 25097220

*The services provided are really dissatisfactory. From the past two week the speed got down drastically with many break downs. I also have similar broadband connection in my office at I.T.O. and there also the same problems. Call to 1504 doesn't got any results and the problem remains the same. My telephone number is 25082920. Pankaj Kochhar

*Dear All, Please share your experience/ grievance broadband services
in Dwarka Subcity. A number of resident felt like me the service is deteriorating day by day. Please express your comment (briefly along with Broadband Customer No/Tel no) so that we could take this with the officials. REJIMON
