In yet another successful initiative for payback to the Society, Aikotaan Kalibari O Sewa Samiti organized a Free Medical Camp and a Blood Donation Camp at the Sector 4 Puja Ground on Sunday, the 28th March. The Blood Donation Camp was organized in collaboration with The Rotary Club. Mr. Rakesh Nigam (President), Col. Surinder Singh Saini (Secretary) and Mrs. Chand Malhotra (Ex-President) and other members also of Rotary Club of Delhi Ridge graced the occasion.
The economically weaker section of society living / working in and around Dwarka was the target beneficiary of the free Medical Camp. Accordingly Hindi was the language used to publicize the event through posters put in various Society notice Boards, and also by word of mouth. Banners were also put up at strategic locations in the sub-city publicizing the event; however most of these were vandalized by unsocial elements. It was explained that the Guards, housemaids and other support staff working there can avail of the services.

Free Medical Camp - Free consultancies were provided by Cardiologist, Diabetologist, ENT Specialist, Child Specialist and a Homeopathy Doctor. Dr Gautam Dutta, Dr (Mrs) Rashmi Goswami, Dr (Col) Subrata Ghatak and Dr A K Sarkar were doctors on the camp panel. Dr. Sarkar also gave free medicines along with advice. Free Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure checking were a bonus facility provided at the camp. The patients ranged from an elderly couple from a nearby society to the anemic daughter of the roadside tea vendor to an electrician from a nearby Society. All the doctors were busy for the entire duration of the 3 hour camp.

Blood Donation Camp – People from walks of life across Dwarka came forward for the blood donation and especially pleasantly surprising was the number of ladies who boldly volunteered to donate blood. About 50 young, enthusiastic and committed cadre of Aikotaan also came forward to donate blood. All the blood donors were provided juice and a pack of Parle biscuits as refreshments by the Rotary Club and food packets by Aikotaan. Both Aikotaan and Rotary Club also presented the donors with souvenirs. A girl from a nearby society who has just turned 18 was the youngest donor and eldest was a brave lady of 55 years.
According to Mr Bijon Ghosh, President (AKOSS) “More than 100 people participated in today’s event and buoyed by our success we at Aikotaan plan to organize at least one more medical camp this year. We are also looking at ways and means to make such camps part of our Annual activity Calendar. Besides, based on feedback from the people across different walks of life we also plan to organize an Eye camp in the near future for the needy, but that will have to be at some indoor facility”. He also stated “We also look forward to join hands with other organizations in Dwarka working for its betterment in organizing and holding such events in future”.

Mr. Rakesh Nigam Prseident of the Rotary Club of Delhi Ridge said “With a motto of – No one shall suffer in and around Delhi for want of blood – Rotary Club has set up its blood bank at Tughlakabad Institutional Area. Clubbing the free medical camp with the blood donation camp was a good idea and we are extremely satisfied with the service and facilities provided by Aikotaan Kalibari O Sewa Samiti, in organizing this camp. The participation has gone beyond are justified expectations. Citizens of Delhi and NCR can reach our blood bank on 29054066-69 for any blood requirements and also register as volunteer blood donors”.
