DDA HOUSING SCAM–WHY IS INTERNAL COMMITTEE REPORT BEING HIDE?

M K Gupta

Minister of State for Urban Development, Mr. Saugat Ray has informed both Houses of Parliament that the DDA’s Internal Committee has given clean chit to the staff. This Committee was set up under the Chairmanship of Mr. Nand Lal, Member (Finance) DDA by the Govt. to inquire the role of DDA staff in the scam. Public fail to understand why this report is being hide from them if the Committee has given the clean chit to the staff? Is there something which the govt. still wants to hide?

Even on the last date of hearing of a case, Justice Hema Kohli of Delhi High Court has to direct the DDA for the submission of this report in a sealed cover on the next date of hearing, which is scheduled on 30th July, 2009. Not disclosing the full report creates suspicion in the minds of applicants.

An applicant to the DDA Housing Scheme, M. K. Gupta requested the Lt. Governor, Delhi's office and Urban Development Ministry for the copy of the report on 28.2.2009 but both the Authorities have informed to apply to the DDA for the same. On applying to the DDA and not receiving any reply of his RTI application, Mr. Gupta filed first appeal on 21.5.09. In reply to the appeal, Dy. Director (LIG)-Housing informed that his appeal has been forwarded to the Director (Vig.) for a suitable reply vide his letter dated 7.7.09.

Public and particularly the applicants to the scheme have the right to go though the report of the Internal Committee. Disclosing selected portion of the report is inadequate.

The applicants to the scheme want the report should be made public urgently to dispel their doubts.
