ROHINI SCHEME - DDA TO ALLOT 16,000 PLOTS AFTER 18 MONTHS

Delhi Development Authority has said that it will allot about 16 thousand plots in a time span of around 18 months. DDA has come out with Rohini Residential Scheme IN 1981 and out of total over 83 thousand applicants, more than 25 thousand are still waiting for allotment. In a short affidavit to Delhi High Court in the case of Mr. R.S. Malik, DDA’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Ashok Kumar has said that the plots to applicants after the allotment to about 16 thousand applicants can be made if the entire area earmarked for residential pockets in sector 36 to 38 is converted in to plotted development. As per Master Plan, 2021, only 8% area in a residential pocket can be earmarked for plotted development. Therefore, a relaxation will be sought to raise it to 100 % from sector 36 to 38 so that the entire available area of around 120 hectares is converted into plotted development to clear the wait list.

DDA has mentioned number of reasons for the delay in the allotment in its affidavit. Interestingly, it is learnt that the government has issued provisional certificates for regularization to some of the colonies like Budh Vihar and Vijay Vihar that exists on encroached land belonging to the government. Originally, the land of these colonies was earmarked for Rohini Residential Scheme. The next date of hearing this Civil Writ Petition No. 2726/2008 is 8th December, 09.
