1 DELHI COP ARRESTED EVERY 2 DAYS
The Government told the Parliament on 9th March that no less than 500 Delhi Police personnel have been arrested on criminal charges over the last three years – an arrest every two days. A large number of policemen were arrested on graft charges. Last year, these included middle level officers holding ranks of ACP and inspector.
INDIA HAS 129 COPS PER 1 LAKH PEOPLE
At present, India has 129 cops per 1 lakh people, this was informed by the Govt. to the Parliament. There are existing vacancies of over 2.67 lakh of police personnel across the country. Nearly one-lakh police personnel across the country are in the security of VVIPs at the cost of security to common people/ public places. India has merely 129 cops per one lakh of population as against the United Nations norm of 220 police personnel per one lakh of population.
DWARKA CIRCULAR SEWA HEADING FOR CLOSURE!
In the start, 6 buses were pressed into service, which now have been reduced to two. On 10.3.2010, Shri Anoop Rohera and myself visited the Sector 8 depot and came to know from the reliable sources that the DTC will try this service for 2-3 days on some new route if it can succeed, service will continue otherwise, may be disbanded. Unless residents have been informed about the new routes, how DTC can expect success? Residents have from time to time given some useful suggestions and the some major suggestions were for proper publicity to this service, route map and its frequency but the implementation of these suggestions is not visible.
In a letter faxed on 9.3.2010, to the Chairman, DTC by Shri Sunil Sareen of Dwarka Forum, it has been informed to him that if this service fails, the DTC has to share some blame for this. Residents are requested to utilize this service, if it continues, in their own interest as one discontinued, it would be difficult to start this in near future.
GAS AGENCY FINED FOR NOT SUPPLYING GAS IN TIME
For the delay in the supply of Gas after booking many times, the Consumer Forum has ordered to an Indane Gas Agency named Radha Govind Gas Services imposed a penalty of Rs 11,000 on the Agency on the case filed by a consumer named Satya Pal Sharma of Bhrampuri, Delhi. In this case, though the consumer requested to book the gas on phone but the Agency has not booked it and this fact came to light when he personally visited the Agency.

RTI – A WELCOME DEVELOPMENT
The government of India has started issuing advts for propagating the RTI Act under Bharat Nirman Yojna. Such advertisements have appeared in today’s papers with the photo of Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson, UPA and Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister under heading “Through Right to Information Act, I’ve got important “information from the Government.”

RTI COVERS INFO ON TAX REFUNDS
Information on refund is covered under RTI Act. Information Commissioner, M. L. Sharma that to deny information is nothing but ‘misappreciation’ of law.
The term ‘misappreciation’ is mainly being used as an excuse from penalize the CPIOs from penalty.

It seems that even this standard is not being maintained for Dwarka, more police personnel should be provided urgently. At present, the combined strength of Constables and Head Constables comes to 177. The other police personnel are in addition to this. According to the above availability, total strength for a population should be around 710 police personnel.
