CRIMES IN DWARKA DECREASES – RESIDENTS URGED TO HOLD FORTNIGHTLY MEETING WITH POLICE

In recent times, the crime graph in the Dwarka Sub-city has decreased and more staff will join soon after the training of the staff is over soon. This was informed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Surendra Kumar. In a recent meeting with Dwarka Forum, he informed that the crimes like theft increases during the summer and winter vacations and stressed the need for the sector-wise periodical meetings for more interaction with the residents. He stressed the need to keep a closely monitor the activities on Nigerians and Bangladeshis as some of them are engaged in anti-social activities and cyber-crimes. On the demand of Forum for its representation in the Thana Level Committee, ACP informed the criterion for the membership of Thana Level Committee and assured that he will look into the matter. He informed that the police patrol-bikes will soon have Global Positioning System and added that the problem of traffic jam around the temple at Sector 5/12 crossing will be tackled and opined that to solve the parking problem in the markets, MCD should convert the lanes outside sports complex and DDA office at Sector 5 into paid parking by appointing contractor. Forum President, Rejimon suggested that the CGHS Management should deploy one guard outside the Society to take stock of the situation frequently.

Shri Bhagwan Singh, SHO informed that the Management of Pocket 19(2), DDA Flats have engaged very good security and has conduced self-verifications of tenants and other residents by effecting a some hike in monthly charges and this example should be followed by others. He said that the main reason of chain snatching outside metro stations is because of poor light, the Police and Dwarka Forum will write to authorities for the proper street-lights there. During the discussions, residents came to know that a new police station at section 9 is in the process. Police will be able to deploy more cops near the wine shops for stopping the open drinking after the commonwealth games are over. He said that the report of RWA facilitation Counter is encouraging as more residents now come to police station with their grievances without hiccup. He informed that some catering out-lets have obtained the stay order from the Courts and therefore it is not possible to take action against them for the time being, even though they do not have any valid licences. He said that more security cameras will be installed at the strategic locations in the market and other place as the DDA has reportedly cleared the proposal of control rooms for them. From Dwarka Forum, Shri Rejimon, Rajeev Solanki, Sushil Kumar, Sudha Iyer, Sunil Sareen, M. K. Gupta and others attended the meeting.
