DDA IS NO MORE WITH M L SHARMA, INFORMATION COMMISSIONER

M K Gupta

It is reported that in the re-allocation of work, the Urban Development Ministry, Administrative Ministry for Delhi Development Authority, has been taken away from Shri M. L. Sharma, Central Information Commissioner and he will now look after Telecommunication. DDA has been allotted to Prof. M. M. Ansari, IC. Dwarka Forum lead by Shri C K Rejimon and M K Gupta have been demanding shifting of DDA from Shri Sharma and both have sent formal letters by Emails to CCIC. In a formal letter to Hon’ble Wajahat Habibullah, Chief CIC, M K Gupta had suggested to transfer the DDA to Shri Shailesh Gandhi which was supported by Shri Rejimon President, DF. Shri Gandhi is looking after local bodies like Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Jal Board, DERC and so on. It is understood that the action has been taken on the demand by the Forum and on the complaints of other RTI activists who had grievance against Mr Sharma for his soft attitude for CPIO’s of DDA. In many decisions, Shri M L Sharma had given reprieve to the CPIO’s and other public authorities by just commenting that non-providing the information was mis-appreciation of law, without taking any punitive action. DDA has acquired notoriety of not providing information in most of the cases till some one reaches at the level of CIC. However, the amendments about the work distribution at CIC is to take place on the CIC’s website.
