ADOLESCENTS & ROAD SAFETY- Role of Schools, Parents & Civil Society

Brainstorming Session

Increasing accidents on roads is a matter of great concern for the Government & the Society. Injuries,at times serious, resulting in deaths bring untold miseries to the affected person & his family. This is also a big strain on the health infrastructure of the country besides affecting productivity.

As per statistics, youth from the age of 15-24 are involved in sizable percentage of accidents. Their awareness about the causes for accidents & how to prevent the same, is felt very imperative.

Parents, schools & civil-society have important roles to play in bringing the awareness on sustainable basis.

To brainstorm this issue, a SESSION is being organized at Urivi Vikram National Centre for Adolescents[UVNAC] –Sector 22, DWARKA on Wednesday, the 20th April,2011, from 4 PM onwards. It will be of about 2 hours duration & will be followed by HI-TEA.

You may also like to know that on the same day, there is an Essay Competition for School Students on topic ‘Role of students, parents, teachers and civil society in minimizing the road accidents’ from 2.00 to 4.00 pm in the premises of UVNAC.

An ACTION PLAN will be drawn at the end of the discussion, to take up with various stakeholders ,the emerged recommendations.
