Vikram Nagar CGHS Celebrates the Independence Day

 The  residents of Vikram Nagar CGHS (Sector 12) celebrated the Independence Day with great pomp and spirit. The dark clouds hovering over Dwarka did not affect the residents in any manner from their active participation. As per the established tradition, senior citizens of the society hoisted the national flag. A colourful cultural programme consisting of speeches by children narrating the struggles of India to gain freedom, patriotic songs sung by all age groups, fancy dresses by cute children, games, group dances and funny games to ensure the participation of one and all. Children were encouraged by giving away with prizes for their active participation in the event. This year was special for the Society as one of the residents of the Society Ms. Bhavana Mehra made a remarkable achievement.  She was the deputy leader of the IAF expedition.

A mix expedition of eight men and eleven women Airwarriors was sponsored by IAF from 14 Apr to 05 Jun 2011. The expedition was a success when on 21 May and 25 May 2011, seven air warriors of this team hoisted National and Air Force Flag on the top of Mt Everest. Gp Capt NK Dahiya was the leader and Wg Cdr Bhavana Mehra was the Dy Leader.  The Society appreciating Ms. Mehra's accomplishments, presented a trophy to her parents (she was away on duty to Mumbai) Shri K P Mehra and Mrs Anuradha Mehra. Col PK Mahajan, Secretary presented the trophy, on behalf of the Society, to the parents. It was also announced that Society will recognise exceptional achievements of the residents and present a trophy every year as a token of its encouragement and appreciation.  Celebrations ended with serving lunch to all the residents who participated the event.
