Sri VIS Pre-Primary students stage International Folktales

The auditorium of Sri Venkateshwar International School, Sec.-18, Dwarka reverberated with the folk tales of different countries viz. Wales, China, France, Russia, India and Sri Lanka, which were being enacted live by the students of Pre-Primary on 30th August ’11 and 2nd September ’11 under International School Awards Project (ISA) of British Council.

Each folk tale depicted that country’s vast culture and tradition. The Guests of Honour for the event were Group Captain Ishwar Singh (Advisor, Venkateshwar Group of Schools) and Mr. Sailander Solanki (Chairman, Sri VIS).

The children perfect in their roles along with the light effects, animated backdrops, life size props and the music wove a magic that held the audience comprising parents captive and enthralled throughout. Children not only learnt the stories but also understood the moral behind them thereby appreciating that humanity exists because of the goodness of people.

The unmistakably magisterial smile, that almost smug expression, the mature nod of the head, the sullen frown, the stiff wrinkled forehead were some of the precious fleeting expressions which would have sent any artist rushing for his paints and brushes to capture them on the canvas.

The whole show was made into success with the focused direction and vision of the Principal, Mrs. Nita Arora, Headmistress Pre-Primary Wing, Mrs Shama Kapoor, Pre-Primary, Activia, Music and IT faculty and most importantly the enthusiastic and talented kids and their parents.

Students, at this young age are learning more about these countries through the collaborative efforts of the school and home. What makes the show special was the fact that the performances were live and the tender performers not only learnt long dialogues and the meaning inherent in them, but emoted with such grace and ease that we just could not stop marvelling at their talent and the hard work of their mentors.
