India’s 3rd largest mobile operator, Idea Cellular, truly demonstrated how a simple idea has the power to change lives, through a special initiative ‘Idea Daredevil Awards’, which were given away to several citizens for their exemplary acts of daredevilry in fighting the ills of the society.

Known for highlighting social issues through its innovative brand campaigns, leading telecom brand, Idea had announced ‘Idea Daredevil Awards’ to recognize and appreciate citizens of Delhi, UP West, Haryana, MP & Chhattisgarh, who have done exemplary work in fighting various ills in the society, on a day-to-day basis. The winners were felicitated by senior members of the Team Delhi Daredevils led by Captain Mahela Jayawardene, at a special event here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajat Mukarji, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Idea Cellular said, “Cricket is a religion in India, and Brand Idea has always leveraged the sport with our several innovative and memorable brand activation campaigns to reach out to our audience across the country. In the 4th year of our association with the Delhi Daredevils, we conceptualized a campaign which has helped us build a strong emotional connect with our audience in the region.”
After a rigorous validation process, eight citizens* have been selected as the real-life Daredevils, who despite hardships have exemplified inspirational work that has brought a change in the lives of others around them. They were felicitated by the Idea supported Delhi Daredevils team.
Mr. Sanjeev Govil, Chief Operating Officer – Delhi & Haryana, Idea Cellular said, “The Idea Daredevil Awards were created to recognize and honour acts of daredevilry by citizens in Delhi and adjoining areas. A high decibel promotional campaign utilising Radio, Digital, Outdoor media, coupled with ground activations, helped us get phenomenal response to this initiative with some really inspiring stories. We are happy to share this moment with these real-life Daredevils who have demonstrated courage in fighting the ills of the society, alongside some of the stars of Cricket from Team Delhi Daredevils.”
Speaking about the association, Mr. Hemant Dua, Head – Marketing & Commercial, GMR Sports said, “Team Delhi Daredevils has had a long and successful association with Brand Idea. The entire team has been happy to support this unique campaign recognizing the acts of courage and daredevilry of people.”
Throughout the duration of the campaign, which lasted for about a month during the ongoing T-20 tournament, Idea invited people from all walks of life to send their stories and incidents highlighting their contribution towards the welfare of society or their fight to rid the society of social evil(s).
