Blanket Distribution in Dwarka

While the temperature dips across North India as winters are progressing, most of us would don our cardigans and mufflers, and spend evenings at home in front of heaters to keep us warm; there are few less-privileged who cannot afford a blanket or warm clothing and succumb to these cold waves.

In these foggy nights, we found a ray of hope in the suburbs of Dwarka, where a group of people go out every night to distribute blankets on the metro stations, constructions sites, footpaths and to rickshaw-walas.

On asking, we were informed the drive was started by 'Art of Living' volunteers in the year 2006 as a desire to distribute 100 blankets and since then, they have been collecting funds from colleagues, relatives and friends every year to distribute blankets and warm clothes to the needy. This year, they are targeting a 2000 mark with the help of social media.

All blanket distribution volunteers are from the corporate world who take out time from their meetings and presentations for this noble cause.
