Anil Agarwal Dialogue: Energy Access and Renewable Energy on 27-28 Feb.

It will be held at Jacaranda Hall in India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on 27th and 28th of February, 2014.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) organises the Anil Agarwal Dialogue to bring together different stakeholders to discuss issues of national importance. The previous editions of the dialogues have discussed mining, green clearances and water management. This year, the Anil Agarwal Dialogue will address the issues related to energy access and the role of renewable energy in it.

Energy access in rural India has been a development priority for the government since independence. Still, 45 percent of rural households lack access to electricity. Around 700 million people depend on biomass for their cooking energy needs, and 77.5 million households still use kerosene for lighting. CSE strongly believe that India needs to end this acute energy poverty and renewable energy can play an important role in achieving this goal.
