ARMY CONDUCTS TOUR OF GUJJAR AND BAKKARWAL YOUTHS OF MENDHAR TEHSIL (J&K) IN DELHI


A tour has been undertaken by the Indian Army for the local Gujjar and Bakkarwal youths of insurgency affected state of Jammu and Kashmir under project Operation Sadbhavna to enable them to have a feel of cultural heritage & economic development in other parts of our country besides giving them an exposure to leading industries and colleges.

The tour ‘Sair-E-Watan’ organised by Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) in which 25 youths of Gujjar and Bakkarwal Communities hailing from remote areas of Mendhar (J&K) arrived in the city yesterday. The youths visited Parliament House, India Gate, Jamia Milia Islamia University and also met Hon’ble Vice President Shri Hamid Ansari.

The aim of the tour is to provide a brief exposure to the development, quality of life and historical places of interest in other parts of the country. The tour will also instill a sense of awareness and national integration amongst the youths of these areas.
