Delhiites are in for a cultural extravaganza this week, with with S.U.N.A.INA, Society for Upliftment of National Arts of India hosting the mega annual event Indradhanush as well as Bal Kala Utsav. The grand combined event commences on 12th November 2014 and concludes on 16 November 2014.

While Bal Kala Utsav is essentially a competition in the fields of dance, drama and music, open to children in the age group 5 to 18, Indradhanush is a dance festival in which youth artistes showcase their talent and the rich cultural heritage of India. These dance forms of our country are one of our richest treasures and the fest is bound to be a feast for the eyes for the Rasikas of Delhi.

S.U.N.A.INA has been organizing Indradhanush since 2008 and Bal Kala Utsav since 2011, as two separate events. This year, both the events are clubbed together, thus enabling younger artistes competing in Bal Kala Utsav to also watch their seniors in Indradhanush, and draw inspiration from them.

Apart from aesthetic appeal and artistic value, Indian classical dance forms bestow immense benefits to the learner - in the form of therapeutic, medicinal and yogic - apart from instilling the best of values in children, making them better citizens of tomorrow. That such fine arts are as significant to the child as formal education is an undeniable truth.

Bal Kala Utsav will be held on 12 and 13 November 2014 from 9 am to 5 pm at Vishwa Yuva Kendra. On 14 and 15 November 2014 the competitions will be held at same venue from 9 am to 9 pm; and also at Akshara theatre next to Lohia hospital.

Indradhanush will be staged from 5.30 pm onwards on 12, 13 and 14 November 2014 at Delhi Karnataka Sangha.

Apart from above, workshops are being organized from 10 am to 3 pm on 16 November 2014 at Delhi Tamil Sangam, followed by a seminar and grand prize distribution ceremony.
