We are in process of identifying partner hospitals there and these OPDs will be stated soon.” Added Dr. Saraswat  Speaking on the Deadly disease Dr. Anish Maru, Sr. Medical Oncologist, Action Cancer Hospital said, “Cancer is one of the leading causes of deaths in India, which has nearly three million patients suffering from the disease. Annually, nearly 500,000 people die of cancer in India. According to WHO, this number is expected to rise to 700,000 by the end of 2015.”

According to WHO, lung, oral, Head, Neck & Throat cancers are the most common among men while women suffer more from cervix, breast and ovarian cancers. According to health ministry data, out of more than 300 cancer centers in India, 40 percent are not adequately equipped with advanced cancer care equipment. India will need at least 600 additional cancer care centers by 2020 to meet the requirements.

While sharing his views on cancer Dr. Rajesh Jain, Sr. Onco Surgeon, Action Cancer Hospital said, “With a million new cases being reported every year, cancer seems to be tightening its grip on India. Recent study by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) under its National Cancer Registry Program claims deaths due to cancer saw a rise of 6 percentage points between 2012 and 2014. On an average, around 1300 people die due to Cancer daily. Ageing population, unhealthy lifestyle, use of tobacco and related products are few major reasons identified as precursor to the rise in mortality due to cancer.”

There are studies which claims that if we do not take corrective measures now then the no of death by cancer will increase five times more than the current rate by the end of 2025. The recent initiative of Action Cancer Hospital will surely help in reducing the lack of cancer diagnostic facilities to some extent in this part of Haryana.
