This is not a regular note on the activities of Goonj. This is a small token of thanks to you for standing with us for many years, especially in the last 2 years!!
From the time of the Uttarakhand floods, the country has been going through a series of massive natural disasters. While we have been talking about some ignored disasters like winters, fire and menses ( a monthly disaster for women who don’t even have a small piece of cloth), we never thought we would be getting into such massive relief and rehabilitation work.
Our thought has been simple – ‘Why do we need disasters to support people as half the country doesn't need a disaster? Poverty itself is a big disaster!!’ Yet in the last 2 years alone we reached over 400 trucks of need based relief and rehab material, apart from our regular work!! Nepal was our first and successful overseas operation, in the middle of many bureaucratic to border issues. The struggle to do something more is still on..
We thank you for your trust in our approach, your patience, your contribution in terms of money/material, your time and most importantly your careful attention to our messages.. A salute to hundreds of volunteers and team members.
