The Vice Chancellor Prof. Ranbir Singh welcomed all the dignitaries, graduating students and their parents and all other invitees. Prof. Singh narrated achievements of University and stated that it is constant effort of the University Faculty member to make the student worthy citizens of the society and to make the university best law school in India.
The chief guest expected excellence in law to be achieved by the all the passing out students. He said the there is always empty space at the top and one has to achieve it with hard work, consistency and aspiration to achieve. He further stressed that in the present competitive world where only the fittest can survive the budding lawyer has to gain excellence in the field of law through hard-work and persistence. In the present age young people has great chance to achieve top post as there are many existing examples where many youngsters are in the top positions as against in the past when only people above fifties would found in the top echelon .
Sh. Arun Jaitley, commended the achievements made by NLU, Delhi and congratulated all the faculty members without whose efforts students could not achieve excellence. He mentioned that the university has achieved great success in short stint of seven years and now it has become one of the top three law schools in India. He reminded the students that there are vast opportunities for them in this globalised world as the horizons of legal arena have changed after 1991. The old concepts of property is now slowly becoming obsolete and they are taken over by the new legal dimensions such as corporate law, commercial law, intellectual property law etc.
He also congratulated the graduating batch of BA.LLB. (Hons.), LL.M & Ph.D. He also congratulated the students who won Gold Medals and Prizes in various subjects and all those who brought laurels to the university in curricular and extra-curricular activities and in several prestigious national and international moot court competitions.
He mentioned that the National Law Universities were emerging as centers for excellence. People want caliber and quality and only those who can show their own strengths can get success in their career. It is not possible to achieve success based on the name and fame of their forefathers or sometime one is son or daughter of any person. He asked students to strive hard for achieving quality and caliber. He advised students to go straight otherwise there is likely hood of tripping. Moral position of a man always sustain in life so he asked to students to cherish moral principles in their life. These qualities of excellence and moralities will help students to rich at the top positions in the world as there are no geographical boundaries for career. Finally, he wished them to be agents of social justice by contributing to social cause and lending their voice to the marginalized section of the society.
