Mission XI Million helps Football Take Over on National Sports Day

Marking the birth anniversary of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, Mission XI Million celebrated National Sports Day on Tuesday with children from different schools across the country with a plethora of football centred activities.

Across the country, Mission XI Million reached out to thousands of kids of the country, making it one of the biggest days in the MXIM calendar. Tripura’s capital Agartala became the host to the Mission XI Million Festival on the day which saw the participation of more than 500 kids from all over the state who enjoyed a day with the beautiful game and played the game to their heart’s content.

In Kotdwar, a mini Mission XI Million Festival was organized that also attracted a lot of kids from around the region. Other cities that also joined in the celebrations were Imphal, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok and Visakhapatnam where kids celebrated the National Sports Day as the ‘Football Day’. A special celebration took place in Hyderabad where MXIM spread smiles on the faces of kids of an orphanage named Victoria Memorial Home with football and other activities like an art competition and various quizzes around it.

In the country’s capital, MXIM collaborated with FICCI and Fitness365 to bring more than 7000 children from five MCD schools under its ever expanding wingspan. The kids took part in small sided friendlies and ‘Football Takes Over’ themed competitions apart from pledging to take part in physical activities in future. Indian Professional Basketball player Satnam Singh graced the occasion with his presence.

Project Director, LOC, FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, Joy Bhattacharya was full of praise for MXIM and the love on display for the game. He said, “The love for the game in all these places has been overwhelming, and it was evident in the enthusiasm of the kids who were present at the venues today. Mission XI Million is giving us a chance to see so much of love for the game. This is exactly what we want ahead of the tournament beginning in October”.

A Mission XI Million festival will be held at South City International School, Kolkata on 2nd September, coinciding with the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 Trophy Experience. Children across the capital of West Bengal will be able to show their love for the beautiful game and witness the Winner's Trophy.

BIHAR, JHARKHAND , ODISHA, UP AND J& K STILL PROBLEM STATES FOR SUCCESS OF SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN (SBA),

WOMEN PLAYING MAJOR ROLE IN PICKING UP CLEAN HABITS - MR. PERMESWARAN IYER, SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF DRINKING WATER AND SANITATION.

CREATING SENSE OF COMPETITION AMONG STATES FOR SANITATION ONLY SOLUTION FOR MAKING SWATCH BHARAT ABHIYAN A SUCCESS- AMITABH KANT

Unlike earlier sanitation programmers, Swatch Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) is not a toilet construction programme but a behaviour change mass movement. It is relatively easy to build a road, bridge or an airport. But trying to change human behaviour is complex.

“The states of Bihar, UP, Jharkhand, Odisha and Jammu and Kashmir and some other states have large proportion of rural households whose members continue to defecate in the open despite toilets at home. Bihar had the lowest coverage with only 30 per cent of households having toilets, of which around 13 per cent were not using them, according to the survey. Jharkhand, where 37 per cent homes had toilets, was at the bottom in using such facilities with around a third preferring to relieve themselves in the open. In Odisha, only 40 per cent of households had toilets and 20 per cent of these families were not found using the facilities. In Bengal, 76 per cent households have toilets at home and 6 per cent did not use them.” Said Mr Mr. Permeswaran Iyer, Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation while speaking at a Impact Conclave 2017 organized by an NGO Sambodhi .

“ Government is now focusing more on bringing in behavior change by bringing in change on the ground by deploying grassroots-level trained and incentivized motivators using interpersonal communication with villages and households to ‘trigger’ demand for toilets and cleanliness. States and districts across the country are rapidly increasing the number of motivators. But this has to be accelerated further. The plan is to have over 500,000 ‘boots on the ground’, on an average, one per village across the nation. In addition to making the SBA a people’s movement, it is also critical to demystify toilet technology and practices.” Said Mr Iyer.

“Presently, one of the most crucial elements of the SBA is the verification and sustaining of results. This is especially important for the programme’s credibility. Currently, a multi-tier process is being followed with district-level, state level and national-level third-party verification being carried out. These efforts will need to be strengthened and mainstreamed in the days ahead.” He added.

“At the halfway mark, the SBA is making good progress, but the teams, both at the Centre and in states, are conscious that there is a long and challenging road ahead. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the near-unanimous support of political leaders across states, civil servants and, most importantly, the leadership of grassroots-level leaders like sarpanches, especially the women, there is now a quiet confidence across the country that the Jan Andolan will succeed.” He said.

“Competition among states being promoted by government and Niti Aayog is very useful. Can be used by States to promote competition between districts. Efficiency in governance, administration alone will ensure India’s worst performing district becomes the best! Competitive Federalism.” Said Mr Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog while speaking on the occasion.

“Competition can bring radical difference, ranking of districts on sanitation parameters has made difference. The competition should be followed up with "name and shame". If things don't improve, shame the officials at district level and local leaders” he said.

“The Mumbai rain floods are mainly due to unplanned urbanisation ,the good municipal officers should be given helm of affairs and more powers. In India post of mayor is belittled “ he added.

TheImpact conclave saw participation of 120 organizations from public and private sector to deliberate on national development agenda within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (2030). Centered around the 5 key pillars – People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership – inherent to sustainable development initiatives, the two-day event in New Delhi saw the convergence of policymakers, federal agencies, development practitioners, academicians, and multi-lateral organizations across 16 thematic areas.

“Given the current global environment, it is more important than ever for likeminded individuals, organizations and Governments to address the issues in sustainable development landscape.” said Kultar Singh, Chief Executive of Sambodhi Research and Communications. He also added, “For the world to achieve SDGs, India has to play very significant role both locally and globally. For doing this, India needs concerted efforts. This platform is created enable a ecosystem for that concerted action.”

The two-day conclave will address issues ranging from discourse and advocacy, existing implementation models, emerging measurement mechanisms to methods for scaling up interventions. Focusing on the current national sustainability agenda, the conference probed the progress of key initiatives in the areas of Skill India and Make in India, Swachh Bharat, Digital India and identified existing and future thrust areas for social transformation.

Fernando Morientes featured in two editions of the FIFA World Cup for Spain and is fondly remembered for his three UEFA Champions League trophies with Real Madrid.

Marcel Desailly was part of the French side that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and went on to captain Les Bleus to two FIFA Confederations Cup titles in 2001 and 2003, winning numerous other trophies along the way.

The striker-turned-goalkeeper Jorge Campos revolutionised the art of goalkeeping and was Mexico’s undisputed first-choice custodian in successive editions of the FIFA World Cup – USA 1994 and France 1998.

A former Nigeria international at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and Olympic gold medalist in 1996, Emmanuel Amuneke started a successful coaching career that saw him leading the Golden Eaglets to glory at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2015 in Chile.

“The FIFA U-17 World Cup in India will be a milestone in the history of football. I look forward to joining the Trophy Experience, which will bring the excitement of this landmark event even closer to Indian fans. There are great expectations in Colombia ahead of the first participation of our team since Nigeria 2009,” said FIFA Legend Carlos Valderrama.

Expressing his delight at the prospect of hosting five FIFA Legends during the Trophy Experience, LOC Chairman and AIFF President Praful Patel said: “Starting today, we’re just a month away from the biggest football tournament our country has witnessed. Immense effort has gone into the preparation, both on and off the pitch, and we’re really close to seeing it all bear fruit. Today, as part of the ongoing Official Trophy Experience, we mark the final milestone in the run-up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017. In a month’s time, we hope to see spectators turn out in large numbers and play their part in putting India on the global footballing map.”

The Trophy Experience will see the Official Winner’s Trophy of the FIFA U-17 World Cup visit all six host cities of the tournament, giving millions of Indians the chance to be part of the football festival and to see the same trophy that will be lifted at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on 28 October.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urges nation to welcome FIFA U-17 World Cup with open arms

The excitement and interest around the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 just forty days away continued to grow as the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, extended his support for the event in his address to the nation.

For the fourth time over the past year, football played an important part in the Honorable PM´s address to the nation. During his Mann Ki Baat broadcast earlier today, the PM encouraged people to embrace the tournament and extend their wholehearted support to the event.

“It's a matter of great joy for the youth of the nation that from 6th to 28th October, India will be hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Twenty four teams from all over the world are going to make India their home. Come on, let us all welcome the young guests from all over the world with the fervour of sports. Every religion in the world has its own significance and importance for the individual, for the family and for the community as well. Parva or the festivals brings most of us together and a lot of happiness and joy in our life. Besides this it acts as unifying bond among people. They make us to forget sorrow and remind us to lead morally acceptable life so that we may grow to become good citizens. And above all,Parva or festivals strengthen our relations with our family members, friends, and neighbours and with our community. There are some other purposes also that a festival serves and usually we find that people meet each other along with their families and thus improve their social life. This reinforces the social bonds between the group who celebrate the festival and shows strength and solidarity to those outside this social group. In fact celebrating festivals is to share happiness with each other by forgetting our problems or differences. Daslakshanparva (दसलक्षणपर्व ), celebrated by Jain community,is also one of the glaring example of such type of ‘Parva’.

Daslakshanparva-- दसलक्षणपर्वis celebrated every year by the Jain Community for self –purification, is meant to adhere to the ten universal virtues in practical life and leads us on the right path, far from the mad strife for material prosperity, which ultimately leads us to our destination i.e. salvation . This is the festival through which an attempt is made to put an end to all vices, passions and lustful desires in thought, speech and action. This is the festival in which ten universal virtues like forgiveness, contentment and self-restraint are venerated and worshipped for self -purification.

In this festival one mediates upon the inherent virtues of the soul in thought, speech and action or one attains peace of soul i.e. celestial peace .Besides this, in this festival an attempt is made to obtain peace discarding passions and lustful desires through various means and observe harmony in the soul through the study of scriptures. Jain community not only in India but in the whole world celebrates this पर्व annually to subdue all passion and lustful desires. It gives us an expression to the perfectly purified trait of the soul, through which one gets rid of worldly disorders and allurements and one gets fully absorbed in the eternal truth on experiencing and realizing the true nature of soul. In other words, we can say the natural realization of the trio ' सत्यम ,शिवम् , सुंदरम ' is fully possible only through Das lakshanparva. This festival puts an end to all evils gives us realization of the eternal bliss, and spiritualism becomes alive by the celebration of this festival.

Jain community observes Das LakshanParva, not only in India but also in the whole world. This parva purifies our soul and deeds. It has a great significance and importance in our life. The family members of the Jain community celebrate this parva for ten days. During these ten days from BhadrapadaShuklaPanchami to अनंतचतुर्दशी , Jains observe fast in various forms and give alms (Daan दान ). They leave certain things –Tyag- त्याग ) and observe strictly the principles of the parva. Each day of the parva has its own importance.

Dash LakshanParva is a festival of ten virtues observed by the Jains for 10 days. During these 10 days they strictly observe the ten dharma ---

The ten universal virtues of the daslakshan  parva  दसलक्षण पर्व   -- are

Jains salute and pray for these virtues. By saluting the virtues, we only receive inspiration for right path, true happiness and total freedom from worldly miseries of life.

The Jain community celebrates this festival with great zeal and joy and austerities viz.self-meditation, doing penance, fasting and study of Holy Scriptures are performed during the parva. The house holders purged their soul by keeping fast on the last day on the parva and celebrate the closing ceremony with great pump and show. When the ten day celebrations are over, this festival leaves behind its deep impression on the mind and heart of every Jain-young or old. " क्षमावाणीदिवस " -a special function --is organized on the tenth day .It carries a message to all living and non-living creatures in the world to 'FORGIVE Ourselves or the 'deeds we have done either knowingly or un-knowingly if such deeds have ever given you any pain or hurt the feelings.'
This is one of the most important festivals of Jain which is celebrated every year throughout the world with great pump and show and with immense devotion.
