Samajvadi Party leader Naresh Agrawal deserves compliments by again raising on 01.08.2017 in Rajya Sabha, the serious issue of non-seriousness of nominated celebrity-members Rekha and Sachin Tendulkar attending just 18 and 23 sittings out of total 348 sittings of Rajya Sabha. If Rekha and Sachin Tendulkar have some shame left, they must immediately resign from Rajya Sabha rather than making a guest-appearance to overcome public-criticism subsequent to matter being earlier raised in Rajya Sabha on 30.03.2017. Sachin Tendulkar who previously tried to justify his absence allegedly due to sickness of a family-member, is regularly visible in glamorous parties, events and shooting for money-minting commercial advertisements. It is indeed an insult to nation and the Parliament to ignore aspect of their contribution in proceedings of Rajya Sabha and Parliamentary committees.
It was a wrong on part of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohansingh as Prime Ministers to waste nominated-membership of Rajya Sabha by awarding to Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rekha. It is also wrong to nominate active politicians in Rajya Sabha. Nominated members of Rajya Sabha should be selected by a collegiums consisting of Vice president, Prime Minister and leader of largest party in Lok Sabha. Consent of nominated persons must be taken before nomination with commitment to ensure significant attendance in Rajya Sabha. Rajya Sabha nomination must not be taken as an additional feather in cap of super VVIP-celebrity like Sachin Tendulkar who apart from being honoured with Bharat Ratna, had a rare facilitation through issue of postal-stamps in life-time contrary to postal-norms. Otherwise also, these icons are minting money because of their field of eminence even through commercial-advertisements at times by being involved in tax-controversies, an aspect which does not fit for their getting overdoses of honours.
