Students of MBS School of Planning and Architecture, Dwarka

With each passing day, India is establishing itself as a superpower on the global level. The nation is growing as an undisputed leader in all fields on an international level and we aren't far away from attaining the goal of sustainable development. But on the flip side, we witness that all the fragments of our nation are not on the same page as one another. Every now and then, we come across such neglected spaces in our society which are turned a blind-eye upon. Such spaces eventually end up turning into dumping grounds and wastelands. A sincere attempt to transform a similar abandoned piece of land in the area of Timarpur, North Delhi was made by the student body of MBS School of Planning and Architecture, Dwarka.

Over a couple of weeks, the students converted this dumping ground infested by pigs and a breeding ground for multiple diseases into an interesting and hygienic social space for the people of Indra Basti. Implementation of every sustainable idea, recycling waste materials and creating an attractive space for people of all age groups; the student body worked diligently to revamp this decades old dumpster. Thus, not just filling colours into those rigid walls of concrete but eventually into the lives of the inhabitants through architecture. This isn't just the end of their pursuit, but the beginning of a new wave of change.
