SPEECH COMPETITION HELD AT GURU NANAK GARIB NIWAJ SCHOOL

Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj School , Greater Kailash II run by a Non Government charity Society for children of labourers, rickshaw, pullers, beggars and daily wage earners. Held a speech competition here on January 11, 2018 under the theme ‘ COMPETITION ‘HOW CAN I BE RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN OF INDIA’

The speech topics that were presented by the students of class VIII , IX and XI were (Eight , Nine and Eleven) included; Corruption, women’s empowerment , gender parity, population control, human values and employment skills. The speech contest was interesting due to the many point of views delivered on stage by each competitor, some were straight to the point where as others were a little more comical than serious.

Mr Yatinder Pal Singh Suri, Managing Director, Outokumpu India, a Finnish stainless steel company was the chief guest .

The chief guest urged students to excel in life and keep striving for success and be source of inspiration for others. The students should think about ways in which they can improve the society by contributing positively and becoming quality citizens.

Chief Guest Mr Suri also encouraged the students to obey parents as well as make education their primary goal in order to be more knowledgeable and well-equipped in facing the challenges of life. Stating that there was no success without struggle, ‘Life demands hard work because dream and ambition cannot become a reality through easy means but through hard work.’

The competition ended with Meenakshi of Class XI winning the first prize, Manisha of class IX winning the second prize and Sakshi of class IX winning the Third prize.

Eminent guests who were present on the occasion included Dr Man Mohan Singh Arora , President Rotary Club OF Delhi Ridge and Mr Anil Sagar , Secretary of the Rotary club Delhi Ridge.

Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society which runs the school was started by Baba Amar Singh Ji to work towards the welfare children coming from below-the-poverty line families ,who generally don't get the chance to go to school or complete their schooling. Baba Amar Singh Ji started the school in October 2006 with 12 kids of laborers who were not only provided with free education but food clothes books healthcare and other basic facilities. The success of the school and the society is proved by the increase in the number of students enrolled in the school and the increase in the number of admission seekers every year.Baba Amar Singh Ji , the founder (of Guru Nanak Garib Niwaj Education Society) has also funded a Muslim school for girls.
