Pedagogy or the Discipline or the Art or the Science of teaching.

In the present times, can we say that the teaching methodologies that worked in the past will still apply or do we have to change the focus of our practice?

In order to answer that, we need to delve in the history of teaching practices. We shall take the example of GURUKUL SYSTEM IN VEDIC PERIOD in India

In Gurukuls, The initial education will be generally given in homes, up to the age of 8 years and later in Ashrams or Gurukuls, followed by education in Centres of higher learning such as Takshila.

Gurukuls were free and were not dependent on parents paying fee but students could offer fields, livestock and/or elements of daily needs to Gurus or even nothing, as per their economic condition. Students would seek alms and offer to the Gurus for running the ashram. In general, the whole society would promote education.

Gurukuls were residential, separate for girls and boys, students of different social classes studied together. Different shastras were taught and students were allowed to specialize in a field of their interest.

The objectives of education were:

1. Development of Self-control
2. Development of character
3. Generation of sociability or social awareness
4. Integral development of personality
5. Propagation of purity
6. Preservation of knowledge and culture

We find that the scholars have found the Gurukul System the best and it did give many scholars of unparalleled learning and repute to India.

In the present times, the pedagogical innovations are needed to shift the focus from what and how to teach to “How to learn”.

We have to empower our students to feel the need for learning and then be guided to learn the art of learning. Create a need and then teach, how to fulfill that need, rather than equating education as filling of an empty vessel.

Students must be encouraged and empowered to seek and create knowledge.

The learning that a teacher has amassed, cannot be transferred in the time spent in schools and colleges, similarly not the entire body of knowledge could find its place in the prescribed text books , hence, we have to make our learners , proficient in how to read and read between the lines.

In the age of technological era, how to search for the information, how to conduct empirical and research studies from upper primary/middle classes onwards.

The teaching focus has to shift to integrated rather than subject-centric, collaborative as well as individualized, hands- on learning rather than theoretical, flip learning from home to school, from learner to class, rather than school/teacher to learner/home.

Education has to be related to real life rather than abstract teaching being applied later in life. The Abstract will lose its relevance for the children, if not related to life.

In the present context, till Secondary stage, there is fixed curriculum in most schools, and only a few schools allow children to choose other subjects.

Even in the subjects made mandatory, most students may not find relevance of the complex concepts/terms they are made to learn; in terms of application in life; now or later. Also, unfortunately most of the teachers are unable to link the relevance themselves, and insist on learning for the sake of examination results or the job market; as the ultimate reward/goal of learning; leaving the learner losing interest. Some students drop out of formal schooling for this very reason as without interest, results also do not materialize.

We have to create a need for the learning and also arouse interest in learning. It can only happen, if there is sustained joy in learning not only for its own sake but the learner experiences a deep love and need for learning. We need excited and joyful teachers, who infect their students with a lot of their own enthusiasm and also share the joy of newer learning themselves constantly. Such a teacher will relate concepts to life, making schooling joyful, igniting, sustaining interest, arousing creativity and empowering the learner, for assuming the ownership of his learning.

It has to move away from exam based system to either fulfilling a career aspirational need or of pure academic interest for seeking and creating knowledge

Many schools have put considerable efforts in developing newer models of learning. Some schools have developed the concept of Learning Minutes, or the time allotted to self- learning time given to each student per subject, during school hours.

Some schools use the phrase ‘Leading me to lead my learning’ for setting and meeting personal learning goals.

Our school has developed the idea of ‘external/play tool of learning strategies’ in which learning continues from playgrounds and external visits to classes.

What is needed is a stronger emphasis on integrated and/or inquiry based learning.

We also need to empower the teachers to allow them to innovate and try newer ideas. Teacher Education and training has received the maximum focus in this training and has generated small pockets of Action Research in each so called progressive school and even traditional school. Teaching as Inquiry should be adopted, if not already done. We may implement it by having a regular time slot for teachers to think together and share their professional inquiries, every week. It may be in curricular or cross -curricular groups.

Sri VIS has the rare distinction of having nine of its teachers acknowledged and awarded for innovative teaching practices in Science and Mathematics by the Directorate of Education in 2017-18, the only private school from the district South West. 4 teachers and the Head teacher were selected by NDTV, India Today and Educomp for innovation at National level in 2016-17 and again in 2017-18. We need to continue to rediscover potential and create centres of excellence and integrate the best practices in the whole school pedagogy, then only we shall do justice to all.

It is the need of the hour to address the malaise the society faces- of nepotism and administrative slumber.

Education must receive its due and should be recognized as the only force for developing and nurturing the human potential. It is high time country sees its population as a resource and provides opportunities to the young generation and adults to contribute responsibly; rising over narrow self-interests and differences.

HUDCO celebrated its 48th Foundation Day

Shri Hardeep S Puri, Union Minister (Housing & Urban Affairs), inaugurated the 48th Foundation Day celebrations of HUDCO and addressed the august gathering. The Minister, congratulated HUDCO on completing 48 glorious years of service to the nation and highlighted the significant role of HUDCO in realizing the vision of “Housing for All”. He added that HUDCO must now look to adopt some of the identified aspirational districts under its CSR activites. He highlighted the importance of the need to encourage initiative, imagination, and institution building to develop a new India. 

On the occasion, the Minister released HUDCO publications namely, HUDCO Darpan, SHELTER, HUDCO Design Awards – 2017 and Sankalp. The Minister stressed that the felicitation is to inspire others in doing good work and gave away awards to the Best performing agencies, HUDCO Best Practices, Nari shakti awards, HUDCO Design Awards etc.

Shri D.S. Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs congratulated HUDCO on its outstanding performance in the last financial year and appreciated HUDCO’s support to the Ministry for all the action plan schemes of the Government of India. He stressed the need to encourage the spirit of innovation to guide HUDCO’s activities, so that HUDCO can aggressively leap forward in the growth of our nation. In view of HUDCO’s consistent performance over the past few years, he expressed confidence that HUDCO would soon attain the status of a navratna company.

Dr. M Ravi Kanth, CMD, HUDCO highlighted HUDCO’s achievements in the last financial year wherein HUDCO attained highest ever sanctions of Rs. 38,627crores and highest ever disbursements of Rs.16562 crores in pursuit of its goals & objectives, with the social motto of Profitability with Social Justice. With these achievements, Hudco’s Balance Sheet has touched a record high of Rs.50,000 crore. He congratulated HUDCO for getting perfect score for the past two years, by getting 100 out of 100, under various parameters stipulated and targets given in MOU. During the year 2017-18, HUDCO reduced defaults of Rs.1,120 crore and has paid corporate tax of Rs.448 crore and dividend of Rs.108 crore and dividend tax of Rs. 25 crore to Government.

The safe, secure & happy childhood: A word to parents

While selecting the ‘right’ school for your kid, give a thought to the kind of development that you would like to see in your child. Explore the vision, curriculum, teaching methods & practices of various schools. Go for a thoughtful institution where the learning and growing up becomes an exciting and enriching experience for your little one and she/he develops into a confident and happy individual who can think, question , has opinion of her/his own and also has the courage to share it with others.

In order to conceive the vision for overall development of children, parents too are expected to go hand in hand with their kid’s school, visualizing the learning process with a progressive outlook. All the curricular games and activities relate the abstract concepts to real life. So please contribute promptly towards all such activities without a second thought.

Coming to academic approach, the ‘why’ is even more important than what and how to learn. So please don’t panic over 1 or 2 marks, A or B grades. Enjoy and acknowledge the process of learning. Believe me, particularly in this age group, ‘conceptual clarity’ and ‘developing a thinking mind’ are important, rather than the marks & grades.

Most importantly the school and the parents must work together to ensure a safe, secure & happy school and home - physically, academically, socially & emotionally, for children, where they develop love for learning & spread happiness in their lives and create a better world for everyone.

Raising a happy, healthy child is one of the most challenging task a parent can have - and also one of the most rewarding. There is no well defined definition of raising children, a few suggestions could go a long way in ensuring the standard rule for children. Different children may need different levels of attention, expression of love and toughness.

1. You should not try to consider your child an investment of your future. In fact you should just see how to enjoy, nurture and support him. Let him become what he wants to become. You should not try to mould your child according to your understanding of life.

2. You should not spoil your child with too much of pampering. It is usually the consequence of giving a child things in place of love - things like leniency, lowered expectations or material possessions.

3. You should be involved in your child s life which means you will have to rethink and rearrange your priorities. You will have to be with him mentally as well as physically. Being involved does not mean doing your child s homework.

If you are doing your child s homework or correcting it then you are not letting the teacher know what the child is learning.

3. You should set limits which would help your child develop a sense of self - control and self - direction. You should establish and set rules and it should not vary from day-to-day in an unpredictable manner.

4. The most important disciplinary tool is consistency. You should never hit your child, those who are spanked, hit or slapped are more prone to fighting with other children. Best way to be firm with your child or give him 'time out' which work better and do not involve aggression.

5. The best way to get respect from your child is to treat him respectfully. If you are genuinely interested in giving your child a good upbringing then you should first transform yourself into a peaceful and loving human being.

6. You should model a healthy lifestyle and good habits such as regular exercise and proper nutrition in front of your child.

7. You should support spiritual or religious development and participate in spiritual or religious activities so that your child will also automatically have the same inclination.

8. You should take precautions to protect your child and maintain awareness of the child s activities and friends.

9. You should maintain a healthy relationship with your spouse.

10. Most importantly you should keep a minimal use of mobile phone in front of your child.

These 10 good parenting skills would help parents to see their child blossom.

Moulding Digital Generation into global leaders with Human Values

As an educationist, through this eternal journey in pursuit of educational excellence, we encourage the students to bear a great sense of belongingness, responsibility and compassion for the fellow human beings. We believe that, children are born with innate talents and potential, which just needs to be chiseled with the investment of motivation and guidance to bring their shimmering qualities to the fore.

With advancement in science every year, new technology renders the latest gadgets obsolete. Nothing is permanent and change is the reality of life. Keeping this in perspective, even the teachers who do not change with time could become obsolete, as the gadgets of bygone years. To keep ourselves abreast with the changing pace of time, we, the educationists need to update ourselves and be in sync with the thoughts and ideology of the new generation, “Learning is a journey from the womb to the tomb". Learning never stops and teachers should concentrate on psychoanalytical techniques to impart proper knowledge flow without encouraging rote learning to boost students’ morale and intelligent quotient. For teachers the three R’s- Respect, Rapport and Recognition are the cardinal principles of teaching the adolescents. Always leave a mark in their lives by being an approachable teacher and a mentor whom they will remember fondly throughout their life.

I also urge the parents to interact with their children with love, not with anger and use total positive thoughts instead of negative emotions. It is always seen that, whenever, children commit mistakes we, as adults, let off steam and the children only develop skills to cope with parental pressure and teachers’ anger, by hiding facts and in the process, everyone loses sight of the main issue. So remember, children will listen and learn only if you deal with them lovingly and rationally. Parents must listen carefully to their wards and give quality time and have patience to remove the behavioral viruses entering their homes. This can be done, by having family lunches or dinners together with healthy discussions without the television and internet intruding your conversation.

21st century skills are the skills today’s children need to thrive in school, college and beyond. The 3R’s- learning basic Reading, Writing and Arithmetic is still a must. But this is not enough, as our children need additional cognitive skills to withstand today’s competitive world. They need to synthesize information to communicate effectively and to collaborate in the process of development. The world has transformed into a knowledge economy. Apparently, the present generation, needs to be differently motivated as they are brought up on internet. To this purpose, employment of technological advancement is quintessential!

We venture far beyond narrow thresholds; in a global community consequently, comprehension of global issues besides the importance of health and wellbeing is indispensible. Hence, nurturing 21st century skills such as adaptability, leadership, collaboration, flexibility and self-direction, we ensure global survivability. As a 21st century teacher, one needs to pull oneself to be a role model for the students, advocating positivity to inculcate self belief. A modern day teacher can make a difference in the lives of children playing multifarious roles nurturing young minds to be an agent of change.

Let us enlighten ourselves with the vibrant colours of education so that we bring up the digital generation who will develop into global leaders with human values.

MoU Signed between HUDCO and MoHUA

The Memorandum of Understanding for the year 2018-19, providing various performance parameters to HUDCO, was signed between Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) and Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on 24th April, 2018. The MoU was signed by Shri. D.S. Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA and Dr. M. Ravi Kanth, Chairman & Managing Director, HUDCO.

It is significant that HUDCO has received ‘Excellent’ rating for performance consistently during the last six years. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that HUDCO has achieved 100% in respect of all the parameters during 2015-16 and 2016-17.

सचिन-क्रिकेट का बेताज बादशाह

सचिन रमेश तेंदुलकर को क्रिकेट का भगवान कहा जाता है। 24 अप्रैल 1973 को मुंबई में, राजापुर सारस्वत ब्रहमाण परिवार में, पिता रमेश तेंदुलकर व माता रजनी के घर में जन्म हुआ। सचिन ने शारदाश्रम विद्यामन्दिर में शिक्षा ग्रहण की। 1984 में इनके बड़े भाई अजीत ने सचिन को मुम्बई के मशहूर क्रिकेट कोच रमाकान्त आचरेकर के पास क्रिकेट के गुर सीखने की राह दिखाई। स्कूली दिनों में ही अपने साथी बल्लेबाज विनोद कांबली के साथ सचिन ने 664 रनों के अविजित साझेदारी की। जिसमें से सचिन ने 320 रन बनाकर क्रिकेट जगत को अपनी प्रतिभा का अहसास करा दिया। हालांकि, सन 1987 में, 14 वर्ष की छोटी सी उम्र में ही, एम. आर. एफ. पेस फाउंडेशन में तेज गेंदबाज बनने के लिए अभ्यास कार्यक्रम में शिरकत की। पर वहाँ तेज गेंदबाजी के कोच डेनिस लिली ने उन्हें पूर्ण रूप से अपनी बल्लेबाजी पर ध्यान केन्द्रित करने को कहा। अपनी कुशल बल्लेबाजी के दम पर ही, मात्र 16 वर्ष की आयु में ही 15, नवम्बर, 1989 को कराची, पाकिस्तान में अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट केरियर शुरू किया। इसी दौरे के दौरान, एक चैरिटी मैच में, तत्कालीन विख्यात लेग स्पिनर गेंदबाज अब्दुल कादिर के एक ही ओवर में 4 छक्को सहित कुल 27 रन ठोकते हुए सबको हैरान कर दिया था। उसके बाद तो सचिन नित नए रिकार्ड बनाने में जुट गए।

उन्होने अपने समय के उम्दा गेंदबाजो वास, रिचर्ड हेडली, वसीम अकरम, मुरलीधरन, शेन वार्न, मेक्ग्राथ की धज्जियां उड़ाते हुए मनचाहे रन बटोरे। टेस्ट व वन डे क्रिकेट में कुल 100 शतक लगाने तथा दोनों क्रिकेट फ़ारमैट में सर्वाधिक रन बनाने वाले विश्व क्रिकेट में एकमात्र बल्लेबाज हैं। इसके अलावा छरू विश्व क्रिकेट कप में शिरकत करना। 2003 विश्व कप में सर्वाधिक रन ठोकने तथा सर्वश्रेस्ठ बल्लेबाज की खिताब जीता। 2011 में अपने बल्ले के ज़ोहर दिखाते हुए विश्व कप जीतना भी उनके जीवन की विशेष उपलब्धि है। भारत के इस महान बल्लेबाज ने जो कीर्तिमान स्थापित किए है उनको तोड़ पाना मुश्किल ही नही नामुंकिन दिखाई पड़ता है। गौरतलब है कि सर डॉन ब्रेडमेन, सर गेरफील्ड सोबेर्स, सर इयान बोथम, कपिल देव, सुनील गावस्कर, इंजमाम उल हक, सर विवियन रिचर्ड्स, अर्जुन रणतुंग आदि जैसे दिग्गज क्रिकेटर भी उनकी बल्लेबाजी के दीवाने रहे हैं।

मास्टर ब्लास्टर के नाम से मशहूर भारत के सपूत ने अपने क्रिकेट जीवन में अनेकों रिकार्ड बनाए जैसे एक-दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय मैचों में सबसे अधिक 62 बार मैन ऑफ द मैच हासिल करना, 24 फरवरी 2010, को वनडे क्रिकेट में 200 रन बनाकर ऐतिहासिक पारी खेली। वनडे क्रिकेट के इतिहास में दोहरा शतक जड़ने वाले पहले खिलाड़ी बने। 1992 में, इंग्लिश काउन्टी क्रिकेट में, यॉर्कशायर टीम के लिए, सबसे पहले विदेशी अनुबंधित खिलाड़ी होने का भी रिकार्ड सचिन के ही नाम है। सचिन को क्रिकेट के खेल में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान के लिए भी विभिन्न खिताबों से नवाजा गया है जिनमें भारत सरकार द्वारा राजीव गांधी खेल रत्न पुरस्कार, सन् २००८ में पद्म विभूषण, 2010 में, आई सी सी द्वारा सर गेरफील्ड सोबेर्स ट्रॉफी, आस्ट्रेलिया द्वारा मेम्बर ऑफ द ऑर्डर ऑफ आस्ट्रेलिया, विजड़न क्रिकेटर अवार्ड, इंडियन एयर फोर्स द्वारा ग्रुप कैप्टन की उपाधि, 2012 में, भारत के राष्ट्रपति ने उन्हे राज्य सभा के सदस्य के रूप में मनोनीत भी किया, जो किसी भी खिलाड़ी के लिए बड़े गौरव का विषय है। सचिन टेनिस, टेबल टेनिस, कार रेस के अलावा पुराने हिन्दी फिल्मी गानों को सुनने में ख़ासी दिलचस्पी रखते हैं। मशहूर हिन्दी फिल्म गायक लता मंगेशकर की आवाज के तो वे दीवाने हैं। अपने शानदार प्रदर्शन से, सचिन ने भारत का नाम देश ही नहीं बल्कि विदेशों में भी ऊंचा किया है। इसीलिए उनका नाम क्रिकेट के इतिहास में स्वर्ण अक्षरों में लिखा जाएगा। सचिन को क्रिकेट में अनोखे रिकार्ड बनाने के खातिर ही क्रिकेट का भगवान माना जाता हैं।

Hall of Celebrations

The much awaited inauguration of Atal Tinkering Lab and 1st Prize Distribution Ceremony of the Session (2017-18) was held on 19 April 2018. Mr. Anurag Tripathi, Secretary, CBSE, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A floral welcome was accorded to the Chief Guest and the esteemed guests. The event commenced with ribbon cutting ceremony, lighting of the lamp by the chief guest along with the soulful chanting of Vedic mantras. This was followed by the Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura`s address to the august gathering. The felicitation ceremony was held in two segments in which scholars and achievers of co-curricular activities were awarded. 

An inspirational ballet, `Parivartan se pragati ki ore` showcasing innovative ideas are the catalysts for the desired change enthused the audience. The school Chairman, Shri Rajpal and the Director Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura congratulated the proud prize winners and their parents. The chief guest applauded the young achievers and emphasized upon the importance of inculcating moral values as integral step of character building. In this endeavor, parents and teachers need to become partners to mould young minds. The event culminated with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Manisha Sharma, Officiating Principal.

Earth day celebrated at N.K.Bagrodia Public School , Dwarka

Earth day was celebrated on April 21 , 2018 at N.K.Bagrodia Public School , Dwarka .On this occasion, a special assembly was conducted in the school showcasing the love and support of the children towards environment. In the beginning an inspirational thought on nature was presented .Following it were some news headlines and then a wonderful speech was delivered expressing the love for mother earth , ways to protect our environment, to follow the three R principle and afforestation. After that a beautiful poem and an awesome skit were presented to make the students realize the present condition of mother earth. At the end, a pledge was taken to remind us that our responsibilities extend beyond our own backyards. It was very much appreciated by our honorable Principal madam and teachers. Speaking on the occasion

Principal ,Dr.Rajee N Kumar said,” The two most important resources are air and water and we should take utmost care to protect them.”She also motivated the children to bring the tree saplings on their birthdays, thus making the school surroundings more greener. It helped everyone to understand that they should try their best to protect and safeguard mother earth as it is only one that we have in common.

The earth day celebration thus offered opportunities to both teach about the issue and make a tangible environmental impact .Together we can make everyday Earth day and each one of us in the school can make a difference.

Times of India of 22.4.2018 had a news-item under the caption`Rapists should cover faces ,not us: Survivors, on the front page.In the same,it reported about a raging debate among the girls & women of a NGO based in Dehradun.& the debate is on`Should news reports take the Jammu girls name & show her face,if her parents agree to it?For that matter,should rape-survivors with the permission of the guardians,if they are minors-come out in the open with their stories.No name changed,no face blurred?

Almost all the girls/women,present were unanimous in their opinion`Why should we be asked to hide our identities when we have not committed any crime?shouldn`t those who are committing rapes be the ones covering their faces?

I feel, this new thinking/lines of argument needs strong support from all sections of the society including guardians & the parents of the hapless girls/women?

What is their fault? Their fault to my mind,is, that they are born in a society/system which does not have enough safe guards to protect the honour of their daughters/sisters et al.It keeps on debating & debating what to do,what laws to have & so on & so on.Infact, the FACES of the rapists need to be BLACKENED & shown around in their localities/cities/media/TV channels etc. Besides, strict punishments by fast-track courts. Let this be the scourge for RAPES. It will then, to my mind, tend to end in our society.

Let the matter be debated in schools,colleges,IITs,IIMS ,by NGOs & various fora to create awareness about the misdeeds of the RAPISTs.

Hapless girls are not to walk/live in shame.It is the rapists & their parents who need to be accountable to the society/system

Suitable modification in the thinking of the society & laws are urgently needed

Earth Day Activities at Sri Venkateshwar International School

Young students of Sri VIS, Sector -18 celebrate the Earth's Day

Young ones as young as 3 year olds to senior students and staff, all synergised to safeguard the mother earth. They planted seeds, wrote slogans, made bookmarks, spoke on what they felt was right to do, made props for their plays, did street plays and pledged to be a sincere and responsible citizen. The school urged all to treat the Earth as our mother and let its green cover remain intact and safe.

We all know, more than 16 millions people are now living in Delhi. the number is increasing everyday. In addition,to this ,there is floating population too- people who come everyday/ for a few days to Delhi for business/ work/tourism etc & go back to their places of residence.

All of you are BLESSED , LUCKY & PRIVILEGED to be in the key position of the administration/governance of the capital of India.All the people of Delhi look up to you for their everyday civic facilities , better law & order & many many other things which a well governed city like any others of the world offer. Are they getting it?The answer is big NO!!

Why it is so? The answer is lack of commitment,passion & special skills,which the elected representatives, various officers/officials of the various concerned organisations/departments need to have?!!

What are those special skills? These to my mind are EMPATHY, INTEGRITY, PASSION to deliver,Ears to hear the complaints,Eyes to see everyday what is wrong at various places in the city & then dedication to give service before self. Are they doing it, the way,it needs to be done. Are you overseeing it everyday & setting the rudder?Pl ask your self.---

I will give one simple example to clarify,what I am driving at, though,I can give hundreds of these.

Over the last few years, shopping malls have been constructed in various newly developed colonies & old colonies too

Visit any day in these malls.It is FREE for ALL,over there!! There is no semblance of any order what to talk of management /governance!? there is encroachment of public spaces in every possible ways,inside the mall,outside the malls & in the vicinity of the malls?!

The toilets STINK. most of the appurtenances therein are in really bad shape.The spaces allotted/designed for green spaces & are either full with refuse or empty /discarded cartons, broken pieces of various articles & what not. There are dogs all over in various state of activity-eating,running,sleeping at times fighting with each other.Poor shoppers trying their best to get away from all these?

Is this management? What is Traders Welfare Associations doing? What is the assigned staff of the civic bodies doing?


Pl give it a thought.

Truth being the same, Earth Day Greetings to you all.

Over the years your unstinted commitment to the cause of Environment has been wonderful and it is certain that you will continue with the same zeal and zest.

The positivity of your actions has started showing results with the tremendous growth in terms of new entrants in different segments and the quantum growth in terms of volume. This sets in a fine example of collectivity of individuals delivering for posterity.

However, this should not catch us unawares as the challenges in the coming year shall be more turbulent and demand a vigorous effort from all of us.

I may like to add here that Earth Day celebrations are as flexible as Mother Earth herself has been to us all despite our wripping her apart and making her bear all the burden Though you may definitely do your bit for her, she being a Mother would never ask for it.

She has bestowed her blessings on the mankind through beautiful and vibrant flowers she bears through wall scaping on the barren walls, drooping downwards in her grandeur from the balcony, sitting pretty on the window sill, coming out from the used tyres, bamboo pipes, splurging out of the small pots on the pathway, in old bath tubs, unused sinks, pots and other sanitary items.

I am sure that none of us will be able to break this strong bond between ourselves and strive for being good guests and learn to walk lightly on Earth as its other creatures do.”

Silsila the Festival of Hindustani classical music celebrated at India Habitate Center Lodhi Road New Delhi

Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan Memorial Trust organised a Hindustani Classical Music Festival 'SILSILA' in memory of Padmashri USTAD GHULAM SADIQ KHAN , who was a great Hindustani Classical Vocalist of famous RAMPUR -SAHASWAN GHARANA. EMINENT EDUCATIONIST and Sr Journalist of India Daya Nand Vats was the Chief Guest on this Auspicious occasion. Maj General Sh Ananta Bhuyan, Aditional D.G Rashtriya Raifles Honoured Mr Daya Nand Vats with Shawl and flowers.

The artists were : 
1. TRINA CHATTERJEE who performed Thumri & Dadra .
She opened concert with a beautiful Dadra ' Ye main Janu ya jaane' which is very popular composition of USTAD GHULAM ABBAS KHAN of RAMPUR SAHASWAN GHARANA. Trina has a soft , husky and melodius voice. She presented 3 pieces of Thumri Dadra with great control and melody.

2. USTAD ASGHAR HUSAIN from Delhi Gharana presrnted Solo Viloin with lots of tayyari and Raagdari.
Both the artists were great on stage.

Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan presented Khayal in Raag Maru Bihag and Basant.
His aakar taans were so powerful. He is probably the only Khayal vocalist of present times who could hit 3 and half octave aakar taans in Khayal.

He also presented Tarana in Raag Basant where he used SHUDH MADHAM which is the unique research of RAMPUR SAHASWAN GHARANA.

खेलों में स्टेमिना बढ़ाने के लिए स्किपिंग आवशयक होती है : कुलदीप वत्स

 जम्प रोप एसोसिएशन दिल्ली (रजि) द्वारा रोप स्किपिंग फडरेशन ऑफ़ इंडिया के निर्देशन में 12वीं दिल्ली राज्य रोप स्किपिंग चैंपियनशिप का आयोजन 21 से 22 अप्रैल 2018 को बास्को पब्लिक स्कूल पश्चिम विहार में किया गया है। 

चैंपियनशिप के पहले दिन भारतीय ओलम्पिक संघ के उपाध्यक्ष श्री कुलदीप वत्स,चंडीगढ़ ओलम्पिक कमेटी के उपाध्यक्ष श्री सुदर्शन कुमार,महासचिव श्री महासिंह जी,मेजबान बास्को पब्लिक स्कूल के प्रधानाचार्य श्री राजीव दुग्गल,जम्प रोप एसोसिएशन दिल्ली के श्री भीम सेन वर्मा,कोषाध्यक्ष एवं मीडिया प्रभारी अशोक कुमार निर्भय,रोप स्किपिंग फडरेशन ऑफ़ इंडिया ने महासचिव निर्देश शर्मा ने सामूहिक रूप से दीप जलाकर किया। 

इस मौके पर मुख्यातिथि भारतीय ओलम्पिक संघ के उपाध्यक्ष श्री कुलदीप वत्स ने रोप स्किपिंग खेल को दिल्ली ओलम्पिक संघ से मान्यता प्रदान करने की घोषणा करते हुए कहा क़ि दिल्ली राज्य ओलम्पिक खेलों में रोप स्किपिंग की स्पर्धा आयोजित की जाएँगी जिससे बालक एवं बालिका वर्ग के सभी खिलाडियों को खेलों में अपना और देश का नाम रोशन करने का अवसर मिलेगा।उन्होंने कहा की प्रत्येक खेल में स्टेमिना बढ़ाने के लिए स्किपिंग आवशयक होती है और यह खेल आज इतना विकसित हो चुका है कि देश-विदेश में खिलाड़ी अपना परचम लहरा रहे हैं। उन्होंने आयोजन समिति और स्कूल प्रबंधन समिति को बधाई देते हुए कहा कि आपके प्रयासों के बिना इतना भव्य आयोजन होना बहुत मुश्किल है। इस मौके पर उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक चिन्ह देकर सम्मानित किया गया। 

इस मौके पर मियांवाली थाने के निरीक्षक (जाँच) श्री कृष्ण वल्लभ झा ने कहा कि मुझे भी बच्चों की प्रतिभाओं को देखने का मौका मिला है और खेल को देखकर मैं बहुत अभिभूत हुआ की गांव में खेला जाने वाला रस्सा आज इतना विकसित होकर विदेश और देश में ऐसे जुझारू खिलाडी तैयार कर रहा है।मैं आयोजन समिति को बधाई देता हूँ जो बच्चों की प्रतिभाओं को निखारने का काम कर रही हैं। इस अवसर पर कोच एवं आयोजन सचिव विवेक सोनी,देवेश,दिनेश नवाल,रामकुमार शर्मा,सचिन,अज़ीम खान,सचिन,युद्धवीर सिंह,कन्हैया,मुकुल गुप्ता,हेमलता निषाद,चन्द्रिका अधिकारी समेत विभिन्न स्कूलों से आये शिक्षक एवं बड़ी संख्या में अभिभावक मौजूद रहे।

The Giraffe Heroes India Program

A Giraffe Hero is a person who sticks his or her neck out on sustainable basis, for public good, at huge personal risk. Giraffe Heroes India Program is an off-shoot of non-profit Giraffe Heroes Project which was started in USA in 1984, by Ann Medlock. The aim of starting this Project was to find out unknown heroes of the society, commend them as Giraffes for sticking their necks out & get their stories told on radio, television & in print. Giraffe stories would tell the people that there was headway being made on the problems of the world, that there were individuals who had solutions & the courage to move into action. The stories would move people`s souls & get them moving on public problems that mattered to them.

Some days back, a brief write up, about Giraffe Heroes India Programme (GHIP) was published in Dwarka Parichay, our media associate.
This Programme, as some of the readers may recall, is about throwing light on UNSUNG HEROES of INDIA.

Television and Radio have been with us for nearly a century; print for more than 500 years. Yet in just last two decades, we have connected over two & half billion people through internet and communication devices. And by the end of 2018 over half the world’s population will have the option to connect and collaborate with each other.

Steve Jobs spent his last few years before his death on devising fifth generation iPod that also does video - to screen home movies, music videos and TV shows downloaded from the iTunes stores. This dissemination of information that takes place seamlessly empowers individuals in more than one way.

It offers opportunities to those who have been by-passed by the traditional mass media –particularly newspapers. Hence social media isn’t just a game or a pastime. 

An estimated one hour of video footage is uploaded to the web for every minute of real time. This will grow exponentially over the next five years. This new video content will be available on any screen – in our living rooms or in our pocket – and will bring together all the diverse media which matters to us, from videos of family and friends to news, music, sports, gardening, cooking and more.

In the next five years, users will be at the centre of their video experience, they will have more access to more information. It will mean the birth of a truly global village that always stays connected.

Similarly there are trillion of pages on the World Wide Web. Few years down the road, it will make little sense even to estimate the number. Around a hundred billion books have been published in the half-millennium since the invention of printing by German blacksmith Johannes Guttenberg around 1440 AD. If every language and edition is taken into account that volume of information represents less than a month’s worth of the content currently being uploaded on the net. It is as if ‘real-time’ digital revolution has gone public. This scene reminds us of Marshal Mucluhan who in his book “Understanding Media” says that all technologies change us as we use them: “we shape our tools, and thereafter our tools shape us.”

One of the key enablers of this new wave technology is the rise of two forms of social media. One is the ‘Expressive social media’, which includes Facebook, Blogs, Twitter, YouTube, Whatsapp, photo sharing sites like Filcker and other social networking sites. Nowadays Indians use these social media platforms to discuss and debate, and articulate their own views for information of others to react and respond. The people formerly known as the audience are those who were on the receiving end of a media system that ran one way, in broadcasting pattern, listening / viewing without the option to participate, respond and interact. However, in this new emerging scenario audience becomes the broadcaster.

The other form is the ‘Collaborative media’, which includes sites such as Wikipedia and other forms of open resources. Collaborative platforms means marketers today no longer have full control over their brands because they are now competing with the collective power of consumers. In the process, consumers become ‘prosumers’.

”DRESS ME UP FOR MY EARTH”- Fancy Dress Competition

‘play, activity and imitation come naturally to the children’.

Fancy Dress is an art of wearing an amusing and unusual costume as part of a theme. Such a contest stirs the spirit of children and opens up their mind to imagine out of box. Students of Step I & Step II proved this during the two days Fancy Dress Competition held on 18th & 19th April 19, 2018 respectively as they came dressed in most vibrant colours and threw light on theme that stroked the chord of every heart. The theme for the competition was ‘Dress me up for my Earth’.Children were smartly dressed and participated with lot of enthusiasm and enthralled everyone with their beautiful performances. They had shown their concern regarding increase in pollution, depletion of water etc. through rhymes and thoughts. This activity provided them an opportunity to not only showcase their talent but they could also combat stage fright with great zeal. The judges for the event Ms Namita Mangla and Ms. Meenakshi Sharma were amazed at the performances of the li’l ones. They also appreciated the efforts of the school for providing such platform to the students that help them to build self confidence.

Local Authorities of Delhi are New Delhi Municipal Council, North Delhi Municipal Corporation,South Delhi Municipal Corporation ,East Delhi Municipal Corporation & Delhi Cantonment Board. New Delhi Municipal Council is a nominated body controlled by the Ministry of Home Affairs[central govt],the three other corporations are the elected bodies & DCB is controlled by the Ministry of Defence[central govt].

Delhi Development Authority[DDA] is under the Ministry of Urban Affairs[central govt] & DJB is under Delhi Government]

Then, there is Delhi Police which has traffic wing,too. This is under central government

All these organisations have been entrusted with very important & heavy responsibilties to provide various civic facilities in an EFFICIENT, FAIR & POLITE manner to all the citizens, without any let & discrimination at all times & be equipped at all times, to carry out their responsibilities to the satisfaction of the citizens.
