Sri VIS declared The Best School of the Year in Green Championship 2015


Energy conservation… A little less now. A little more for the future….!!!

Sri Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka, hosted “Green Championship 2015” organised by Schneider Electric and SHARP NGO under the project “Conserve My Planet”. It is a Participative, Educational training program to build communities sensitive to energy conservation an initiative by Schneider Electric India Foundation. The program aims to illuminate the young minds about energy saving, energy efficiency, green energy, recyclable sources of energy.

The event was graced by Ms. Rachna Mukherjee , Chief Human Resources Officer of Schneider Electric, India as Chief Guest along with the panel of Judges Mr. Anurag Kapoor, General Manager, CSR; Mr. Dharmesh Joshi, Associate General manager, Field Services; Ms. Tanpreet Kaur, HR Compliance and Twelve schools across the city participated with their models on the topic “Me: The Energy Icon”.

The program began with the invocation and the lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest and the school Principal Ms. Nita Arora. 

Chief Guest Ms. Rachna Mukerjee presented a gist of the entire project and initiatives by Schneider Electric India towards sustainable development. She also administered the following Power pledge to the children.

Power Pledge:
I am the future of this world.
It is my duty and pride to protect planet Earth.
I pledge to protect planet Earth and the environment.
I will keep my surroundings clean.
I will conserve electricity, fuel and water in all walks of my life.
I will reduce, reuse and recycle to conserve energy.
I will utilize energy optimally and never misuse it.
I pledge to always conserve energy at home and at campus.
I have the power to save energy and the environment.

Mr. Anurag Kapoor, General Manager, CSR at Schneider Electric presented an audio visual presentation on Schneider Electric reaching out to community for supporting Engineering studies, Electrification of villages, Electrician Training & employment and encouraging entrepreneurship. The school is planning to install solar panels for generating electricity. He entered the following testimonial in the Visitor’s Book,”I am very impressed with the commitment of teachers and all the staff members towards making the city championship a huge success. The infrastructure of the school is inspiring and we would like to keep our association to grow in future.”

The School Principal Ms. Nita Arora, a progressive minded leader enthralled the students and the spectators with her enlightning oration on “Energy Saved is Energy Generated”. She endorsed the concept by Schneider Electric’s Five E’s policy – Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, Electrification and Emergency during natural disasters.

The top five Schools were selected on the basis of their working model presented in the first round, Sri VIS also one among them. It was followed by their presentations.

The most exciting phase of the day was the Prize Distribution. Sri VIS bagged two premium awards – “Best School of the Year Award – 2015” and “Schneider Electric Energy Star School Award 2015”. Muskaan Mahajan, SVIS Green Champion and Bhawna Sharma, Teacher Coordinator were also honoured with trophies and certificates.

The program concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms Upasana Chatterjee, the Program Coordinator with the SHARP NGO.
