He was the founder of Christianity, one of the world’s largest religions. Christ is believed to be an incarnation of God and his teachings are described in the New Testament.

It is believed that on Good Friday, Christ was arrested by clergymen. Hence, Good Friday is believed to be the time when Christians keep fast and celebrate the day over the birth of Christ.

Some people believe that ‘Good’ in GOOD FRIDAY is referred to as ‘GOD’ and it is also a common belief that ‘GOOD’ is referred to the gift brought by martyrdom. And according to one of the views, on this day, it is Jesus who went to heaven. It is also celebrated as a festival of life and spirit. Some believe the term "Good" evolved from "God" or God's Friday.

DELHI POLICE ALL SET TO IMPLEMENT WOMEN’S SAFETY APP ‘HIMMAT PLUS’ IN ENTIRE CITY INCLUDING RAILWAY STATIONS

Delhi Police is working to implement it’s recently launched upgraded version of Women’s safety app ”Himmat Plus’ in entire city including all railway and metro stations in the coming days .

“The revamped ‘Himmat Plus’ a mobile application available in Hindi and English which offers wide range of safety features to it’s users has a special feature for scanning the QR codes of taxi, auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers to verify their details. It was launched as pilot project, the app can be currently used by women commuters coming out of the Delhi Airport and five metro stations -- Anand Vihar, Vishwa Vidyalaya, Malviya Nagar, Saket and Nehru Place.” Said Mr Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, Special Commissioner , Delhi Police for women safety, Modernization and airport while speaking at a two day seminar on “safer Road Transportation to promote National Tourism’ organized by Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE ) along with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Tourism here today.

“ The app would act as a deterrent to crime against women, and would empower and make them more confident while travelling. Women are little vulnerable while travelling and when they board a taxi or an auto-rickshaw, they do not know if it is safe. This upgraded app will definitely empower them and boost their confidence while travelling," Mr Beniwal Said ‘

“The upgraded app has been transformed from an 'Emergency Safety' app to an 'Utility' app. The process of registration has also been simplified. Now anybody can download it on their mobile phones unlike the previous app for which one had to visit the Delhi Police's website to download it. “ he said

“The Facebook page of the Delhi Traffic Police and Twitter handle of the Delhi Police have also been linked to the app to provide traffic updates and other information. It has also been linked with Delhi police GPS system . The details of taxi drivers at the airport and drivers of auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws were collected and fed in the server of the Himmat Plus app. Each driver has been provided with a 'QR card' to be placed in their vehicle which can be scanned by the commuter to establish the authenticity of the drivers," He added.

CBSE Retest

Subjecting a large majority of students who are unaware of a paper leakage to a retest shows the callousness with which our education system managers handle such an important function. CBSE has pointed out the ‘unfairness’ meted out to the majority of students in not having access to the leaked paper as the excuse for conducting a retest; this is laughable considering that only a tiny fraction of the millions of students have got access to the leaked paper and of which only a further smaller fraction would have pursued it in any seriousness to have benefitted from it in any real terms.

The bigger unfairness is subjecting the millions of innocent children to yet another episode of stressfulness. This is all the more painful since every educator and parent is familiar with the multitude of pitfalls our very examination system suffers from, the least of which is paper leakage: incompetent evaluations, inconsistent evaluations, wrong questions, mixing up of answer sheets, artificially sprucing up results, inflating marks, arbitrary or random level of evaluation standards, so on and so forth. Thus, examinations in our country have already lost its credibility as a tool for evaluation of understanding of the syllabus, leave alone as a calibrated tool for measurement of ability. Thus subjecting millions of hapless students, who do not have a voice, to yet another exercise in futility is a cruel joke. It further subjects students, parents and teachers to unwanted stress and given that the students from next year onwards only have to deal with half of what the present students have to go through, this retest is a tragedy foisted upon them. If anything, the paper leakage has only exposed the incompetence of CBSE to conduct a fair examination and thus leaves open the question of how it will ensure that a leakage of the retest paper will be prevented. Thus, children are facing another futile challenge, considering the pitfalls of examination system already mentioned and which is subject to threat of another leakage. It is the CBSE who should be held accountable for this leakage and not the students. And this entire episode gives us an opportunity to look at the system of examinations with a new understanding. World over, progressive educators and scientists are eschewing the concept of a single terminal examination as any measure of a child’s intelligence or ability and are recommending the use of other credible tools of comprehensive evaluation. It’s time we too junk this wasteful examination pattern and replace it with more trustworthy and reliable measures.

IRF FOR STRICT ENFORCEMENT ON TRCUKS AND VEHICLES CARRYING RODS, PIPES OR ANY PROTRUDED MATERIAL BEYOND THE BODY FRAME

International Road Federation (IRF) , a Geneva based global body working for better and safer roads world wide has stressed on strict enforcement of Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) and Supreme court order banning vehicles from carrying rods, pipes or any protruding material beyond the body frame.

“Despite blanket ban on carrying of protruding and dangerous materials beyond the body frame various vehicles including trucks, tractors and animal pulled carts are openly flouting rules on both National as well as State highways under the nose of concerned authorities’ Said Mr K K Kapila, chairman, International Road Federation (IRF) .

“The precious lives of AIIMS doctors who were killed in fatal road accident on Yamuna Expressway recently could have been saved if the ban on vehicles carrying bars and pipes beyond the body frame had been strictly enforced as the Mini Truck the victims vehicles crashed into was illegally carrying protruding material beyond the body frame. ” said Mr Kapila.

“India has a dubious reputation of having the highest number of road accidents in the world. The nation accounts for about 10% of road crash fatalities worldwide. Thousands of motorists die every year in accidents caused by trucks and other vehicles parked recklessly on highways, many with iron rods protruding from their body frames.” Said Mr Kapila.

“ Strict enforcement of this law by both central and state authorities will make sure that such materials carried in a truck or trailer remains within the length of the vehicle or trailer. An awareness campaign also needs to be run to educate truckers and consignees.” He added.
